Where do you put the CPAP?
Comments (20)Ken: My personal preference would be for ones that I could use in place of our nightstands since we don't really have room for more furniture. I would also want the CPAPs completely enclosed during the day so I wouldn't have to dust around them all the time. (Call me lazy.) I still like badin's idea about keeping one in a drawer and have thought in terms of a shallow top drawer for odds and ends, a second drawer deep enough for a CPAP, and a third drawer for the rest of the bedside stuff. The CPAP drawers could be pulled out at night and closed during the day and the radio, alarm, and/or lamp could live on top of the stands. We disconnect our hoses and masks in the morning and leave them on the bed to air out during the day, so the only extra hole needed for the drawers would be in the back to put the cord through so it can stay plugged in. I'm keeping an eye on estate sales and Craigslist hoping to find a pair of night stands of the they-don't-make-them-like-this-any-more quality at a reasonable price. ;-)...See MoreIF you dont have a mudroom- where do backpacks go- kids
Comments (34)Hi ajsmama, sorry my camera is away on holidays with DH until Feb. 16th. It is very simple - just a vertical piece of 1/2" wood (not plywood) 60" high and placed 24" away from end of closet wall, then four of the same thickness of wood horizontally about 20" apart (top piece of horizontal wood goes right on top of end piece of vertical piece, other pieces butt up against vertical piece). Like 3 boxes stacked on top of each other, but the first "box" starts 20" off the ground. So each box is 24" wide and about 20" high. The closet rod gets attached directly to the vertical piece so you still have room to hang coats. Sorry, wish I could take a pic for you, hope my explanation makes sense....See MoreIn your small house, where do you put ____?
Comments (32)'It seems to me what I need to add to the kitchen remodel plan is an outdoor sink like a laundry sink' could you put one up in a potting table outside? I found a good one yrs ago at a yard sale. Still have it and someone (on here maybe?) suggested I use it outside to wash muddy dog feet when needed (sometimes it does rain out here!). I bought it for 5.00 to be a fountain, but i do have a fountain so the dog feet sink will probably be it's job. 'I can see such a setup in the desert, Steph. Save some on your water heating bill, huh.' yes! I have taken a shower (of sorts) outside when my plumbing pipe weren't working. I have a 2nd water storage tank that operates on gravity feed so I used that. While mostly dressed since I don't (yet) have a covered space out there. I've also colored my hair out there holding a hose (the rinse it out part) because it was easier on my back. i think getting a cheap handheld for out there is a good idea (they don't last long here. even those for watering plants end up 'soldered' onto the hose end by the heat). I do plan to turn off the hot water heater this yr. if I figure out how. my friend is coming out soon to do some work and I'll ask him. I might even need a new one in the new place as I've noticed the water there smells and has little specks in it when left setting in the wash basin. kind of rusty looks specks - good clue there. 'I have never found a good spot to keep my vacuum cleaner or my ironing board.' that's a bummer, isn't it? most houses don't seem to have a place. we need more women designing them! I designated space in the closet of my craft/store/misc room for those things. finally they'll have their OWN home! I will no longer have to move them from room to room, walk around them etc. Actually, I have little use for either anymore - lol! guess the upright will still be needed for the area rugs tho. I'm planning a hanging rack in the utility room for new dust mop type things. I used to love to iron, but haven't done that in over 20 yrs now. don't even have an iron - will have to buy one. They come in handy when hemming things. I have to hem any pants my sister gives me. So far I've either just cut them to fit me or just hand turned them up and hand stitched 'em in place. Not the best way to do it....See MoreTiler put off start date for the 3rd time. Crap. :(
Comments (9)He is taking jobs he'd prefer over yours, but he wants to keep yours available if the good stuff slows down. This is normal procedure, they never want to say "no" as what if something better doesn't show up? I'd look for someone that wants your job, not someone that will do it if nothing better is available. We had the same thing happen with our septic system. Called the "top" company in July - said we wanted it in Sept, they said "no problem" came out and give us a bid and everything. We thought we were good to go. Called in early Sept - Oh, sorry got too much other work, maybe October. Called October - We are still busy, will discuss it at meeting next day and see if we can fit you in. Never heard another word from them, so two weeks later I called a second company. They came out first of November and installed the septic. Less than a week later the first company shows up with a truck and equipment, ready to break ground. Good thing my Son was working nights at the time, so he was home and called me before they got to digging. I could not believe the gall - they never contacted me to even say they still wanted the job, and then show up over a month later ready to dig up my yard while I wasn't home. I wonder if they would have noticed that it had been recently dug up before they started - could have been a real mess if they would have dug up the new septic. When I called to ask them what was going on, the owner got real mad at me - how dare I contract with him and then give the job to someone else. I'll never deal with that prima-donna company again. There are enough out there that are willing to do work on an older farmhouse instead of only wanting the jobs with the $500,000 properties. So, yea, they won't tell you they don't want the job, but if better stuff comes along, they'll keep pushing you off. They are just keeping you as an "ace in the hole" in case nothing better comes along....See Moretishtoshnm Zone 6/NM
