Anyone have a Heartland Legend or Metro Range?
Comments (15)I actually have a Heartland Legacy stove, just like the one on Desperate Housewives. It is a beautiful stove to look at but really mostly a worthless piece of c____ to own. In 8 years the stove was replaced in it's entirety 3 times and now all of the mechanical components of the oven need to be replaced as the oven no longer works. all 4 times, on different ranges, I have had the same complete blow out of the electronic parts. There is obviously a very, very serious technical problem with these stoves. And the customer service is awful!! The quality really wouldn't be acceptable in a $500 stove let alone one that cost 10 times that. Stay away from this stove!!!...See MoreAlternatives to simmering on top of the stove?
Comments (12)Here is the recipe. It is a Tyler Florence recipe I found on the Food Network website. Pot Roast With Vegetables 1 (3 to 4 pound) piece beef chuck roast, trimmed of excess fat Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper 3 tablespoons olive oil 1 can crushed tomatoes 1 cup water 2 yellow onion, halved 2 garlic cloves, chopped 1 bunch baby carrots 2 celery stalks, sliced 1 cup button mushrooms, stems removed and sliced in half 2 sprigs fresh rosemary 4 sprigs fresh thyme 2 bay leaves Season all sides of the beef with a fair amount of salt and pepper. In a large Dutch oven or other heavy pot that has a tight cover; heat 2 tablespoons of the oil over moderately high heat. Brown the meat on all sides, taking the time to get a nice crust on the outside. Pour in the tomatoes and the water. Scatter the vegetables and herbs around the pot roast, season with salt and pepper; and drizzle with the remaining tablespoon of oil. Cover the pot and reduce the heat to low. Braise for about 3 hours, basting every 30 minutes with the pan juices, until the beef is fork tender. Slice the pot roast and arrange on platter surrounded by the vegetables. Serve with the pot juices. Nicole...See MoreHelp me find an alternative to these giclee prints?
Comments (16)I third etsy or your local outdoor art fair or gallery walk. If you do want a print/giclee, you might search Gallery Direct (or similar shops) to find the print. I wanted a specific type of art poster and I found it there. They have a pretty broad choice of frames as well, but their matting is more limited than Michael's, Aaron Brothers or art.com This post was edited by gooster on Sun, Jun 22, 14 at 17:17...See MoreWhere to find used paving stones or alternatives?
Comments (6)Used brick here isn't cheap. I like to use broken concrete too. Most people install it so the flat side is up...but it can be installed upside down or on edge. Very rough tripping hazard, so not for heavy traffic areas. I don't know where you live but here there's a lot of concrete roof tile here that gets sent to the landfill. For paths you lay it on end so just the thin edge is showing. Any shape can be laid this way. Also a rough surface. Chinese and Japanese have been doing this for centuries and can be a very high end look. I'm installing one now. Granite counter top companies often will give away chunks. You can mix materials. Some very high end gardens have mixed material paths. Good old stone and rocks work great. Don't get too caught up with the need to be flat and smooth. Great place to get creative....See Moresinginglizzie
