Comments (100)Jean/dirtpig, here is a pic of my MY Ways taken this season. This is it's first time to bloom for me so it may get better but I liked it. I love all the pics you are showing. That Linda Daniels is magnificient! Anita, your garden looks terrific. I wish I had the talent to mix things together like the rest of you do. I'd also like to recommend EarthlyDelights. I just finished a trade with her and she sent some very nice, healthy plants and she's a nice person to boot. ;-) Mary s your baby bird is so cute. I just love them. We usually have a nest in my clothes pin bag every year. Melissa your unknown is really pretty. Dawn, have fun on your trip! Angie, don't forget the noisemakers at that birthday party! That will be the most fun part. *evil grin* I hope everyone has a great weekend! We finally got a 2" rain yesterday. Everything was just about burnt up and today it was 103 with 80% humidity so you know where I am and tomorrow and Sunday will be more of the same. You'd think it would cook the grass and weeds in the beds but no, only the grass in the lawn dies! lol Nancy...See MoreQuote out of line?
Comments (9)What you should try to figure out is what a typical hourly rate is for the contractors who would be doing these aspects of the job in your location. In my experience when I try to figure out what I pay plumbers and electricians hourly for the quotes that I get for time and materials jobs (which yours is, basically, since they are performing certain tasks, not the whole thing) here is how it has worked out in my area. Electricians bill out at between $75 and $100/hr Plumbers bill out at between $75 and $100/hr My GC bills out at $70/hr per person onsite. I have used one of their contractors who moonlights, he bills out at $30/hr. My assumption is they are paying him less than $30 an hour and the other $40+ goes to the company. My painter bills out at $33/hr per person onsite. I have not used a tilesetter at my own place but designed a job that the tilesetter billed out $1500 for a 3 wall tub surround with two corner surface mounted shelves. If was less than a 2 day install and he had a helper the first day and was alone the second. So that probably worked out to $60-70/hr all told. (The tile which was the very basic white 4x4 Daltile was included in this cost.) It was straightforward as tile jobs go, and the homeowner is happy. I would say its...adequate. So, that is the hourly breakdown for Time and Materials in my location (Phila metro) which is about 25% or more higher than national average. A full on bath reno from start to finish here tops $20K, anything the least bit fancy or master bathlike approaches $40K. You may be able to makes some hourly comparisons from this. You are also probably paying a bit more for certain aspects since you are parceling it out as small jobs rather than having the whole thing done by someone....See MoreThe price of styrofoam ! WOW !
Comments (8)Here's a little secret I will share. Back when I lived up in PA..there was a foam fabricator in my hometown. His plant made all types of styrofoam orders for customers. I went up there and got all of my sheets (4'x8') for crafts, wedding arches, etc. If I needed anything special-he'd cut it for me. They have all thicknesses-1/2" to 4 or 6" thick! So, look in your yellow pages for foam fabricators, go visit one and make him your friend!! Can't hurt to ask-especially if you do alot of foam crafts....See MoreZodiaq Order: Holy Cow I've Lost My Mind!!!
Comments (17)hi chocolatebunny... i've been thinking of you, too! i wouldn't give up just yet. your sq footage is 8 ft, but what are the dimensions of your island? would a vanity size fit that? i am sure SOMEONE can fabricate a vanity equivalent for you, even from a remnant. i found my fabricator totally by accident. i was googling something about cambria, and i found a forum he was posting on. he doesn't even list zodiaq on his website; i emailed and asked. so you never know. btw... the Dupont website "dealer locator" was a waste of time! the best/nearest fabricator listed doesn't even sell zodiaq, only corian. he's talked to them, but DuPont doesn't bother to fix their listing. so you'll have to keep hunting. quartz (composite) is expensive, but i found nothing equivalent i wanted. so i feel very fortunate this worked out. but you never really know until the stuff is actually installed... then you can breathe! i really wish you good luck. keep us posted. :)...See MoreKatrina Tate
