Can you please look at my petunias - I think they're sick!
Comments (7)I grew a bunch of wave petunias from seed. One was a "flag mix" of red white and blue. The red is pathetic. Just like your picture. The spent blooms look terrible. The next pathetic is the white and the blue (really a purple) are the best. You dont even notice the spent blooms. As far as the water effecting them, it is possible. All of the spent blooms look like that on the red. I am very careful not to "top water" the foliage and only water the soil with a long wand....See MoreI think my rose is dying, can anyone help?
Comments (6)The yellowness of the foliage looks chlorotic, which if there is any iron in your soil at all, the foliage will green up as soon as the soil warms up more. In colder soil, roots have a harder time accessing the iron that is there in the soil. "Iron chlorosis is known to be aggravated by cool soil temperatures and conditions that restrict air movement into soil: plastic sheet mulching, compaction, and water-saturated conditions. " In warmer soil, the roots can make use of the iron. Yellow canes--those are usually on their way out. The plant looks like it still has some good healthy areas, so nothing to get too worried about yet. Chlorosis is rather complex--no "instant" cure, but no need to to jump on and Do Something About It today. Read about it and get a good understanding of your soil and when/if it happens, so you can develop a long term correction, if necessary. There are some good articles from State agricultural sites and universities. Here is a link that might be useful: one example article on chlorosis U of Utah...See MoreI think I may get my first flower... so if I take a picture
Comments (2)I think the easiest way, but most lilely not a surefire way to tell them apart is the leaf size, but also in general besides the leaves on the sasanquas being much smaller, the flowers in general are smaller. I couldn't give you "general" sizes as that could vary considerably for either type depending on growing conditions I'd suspect!! More than likely there's a fine point in the differences in flowers as that's often the determining factor in classifying what species a particular plant in a genus belongs. But sometimes it could be in the leaves or some other unexpected thing!!...See MoreDo you think you are my SS buddy, then take a look here
Comments (15)oh Eloise it is JUST a wrapped box in brown paper. To hide the address to who it goes to, I placed the written note over it. But then when I posted it here, I thought that I do need to hide MY address also. Not the whole world needs to know where I live. So I did a little creativity in PSP lol Deb this is all part of the great fun I am having with SS :-) YES you are so right about Carmen, I just love her creativity even more hahahaha Lucy...See MoreWilwil Horneff
