@Lazygardens - I mentioned above we want to enlarge it to 36" W x 48"D or Deeper, but anything above a 36" Wide shower will make the closet in the bedroom we are taking the space away from not work. We are taking the large closet away from this room, and need to replace it with a smaller 48" W x 24" D Closet. As mentioned above does anyone know where I can find quality shower pans with the 36" side that has the entrance? I looked into having the pan be custom tiled, but I am worried about having long term maintenance issues regarding leaking and mold.

I have a square basement shower (~38x42") that we changed to having frameless glass. There is water spray pretty much constantly on the door during my daily shower. The water bounces off my body onto the doors and when I’m whipping the handheld around, the door gets inadvertently sprayed. I have a fixed panel and a door that swings in and out. Like the other poster mentioned, there is a plastic strip (vertically) between the fixed panel and swinging door. No water seems to get through this vertical space. There is also a plastic strip (horizontally) at the base of the swinging door. There used to be two sort of layers of clear strips but one peeled off so now there’s just one strip which deflects the water somewhat but not entirely. When I finish showering (and squeegeeing the door), there is always a little puddle of water sitting on the curb but no water seems to spill over onto the bathroom floor. It’s just part of my routine to wipe the curb before I get out of the shower.

I am in Oklahoma, so $800 will buy me a custom glass shower panel, plus installation costs. People forget that some states have a lower cost of living. I have noticed that some of the glass screens (panels) have a small fixed panel by the shower head side, and the rest of the panel will open outward so you can turn the water on. Seems to me you could still get wet that way, and there would be a small space between the fixed panel and the swing open panel so water could potentially splash out there. I am undecided about glass doors too, so I would be interested in what you decide. I am thinking about a fixed glass panel on the 48" side and leaving the 36" side open, but I have not decided. The other 2 sides will be tiled. In my bathroom with a shower/tub combo, I am getting a bi-fold glass screen that folds either in or out.
