Compress Picture Easy

I have a windows 8.1 now 10 Netbook computer. I guess it has Office 2013. On occasion, I need to send or upload pictures on line. Today I need to send a pic of a receipt to e-bay (I don't sell on e-bay or know fancy places to put photos for selling). The problem is that I have a 6+ meg file and e-bay and others need much compressed pics. I used to compress some pics in word but ebay wants pict/jpeg type files (and I couldn't find the compress a whole word file with pics anyway for word 2013).

Isn't there some simple, easy, straight forward, already built in way to shrink pictures??

I actually tried to use a scan app (MDScan I believe) to use the picture, but being the free version, it sticks an add in the middle of my receipt where my needed info resides. I suppose another scan app might work, but really, shouldn't this issue have been solved in 1985 or something? (I know how to use my wife's I-pad scan app, but I'm afraid that I won't easily be able to get to the right page on e-bay with the pad.)

I just tried this to see if it does what it claims. It seems to. Image Resizer for Windows

What's nice about it, assuming it meets your requirements, is that it adds a right-click (context) menu. Right-click an image and you get something like this:

Maybe there's a native Windows method but if there is I don't know about it.

Thanks. I found an odd route for my specific need. I just downloaded image resizer. At first, I thought it didn't work, but it turns out that it doesn't work with a picture that is on the desk top. I gather it is designed to work with pics in the Pictures folder only. Since I didn't have a need now, I didn't make a copy, but it sure looks like it will do what I need just like I asked assuming I have pictures where it wants them.

lydia - I think some versions of Windows XP come with that option. Perhaps Media Center? Mine did not have it, but I downloaded it from Microsoft. It is a safe and quick download - It is a Windows PowerToy. Once you have it installed - you can right click on an image and you will have the option to resize it. It will rename it (adding a "small" at the end of it) so you don't ruin your original image. There are some other fun "toys" on the link. Scroll down towards the bottom. I don't like this new set up, but I just wanted to see if anything changed in posting pictures which is about all I do any more. Not that I care but I didn't see Hot Topics in the Gardening section. Is it gone for good now??? Looks like nothing has changed, picture posting wise. I hate how it all looks though.

I'm not looking for a dry condenser... It was just for my education.. BTW, from what I've found out ... If one fills on the suction side using liquid, all one needs to do, before starting, is wait for the pressure to equalize between the high and low side.. This shows that the liquid has vaporized.. So no slugging..

You might try right-clicking an image on your Desktop again sometime. The image I tested with (in the photo above) was sitting on my Desktop. When I let it resize, I wound up with an additional file tagged with an included (small). In other words, I started with IMG_6260.JPG and ended up with a smaller file called IMG_6260(small).JPG.

All you need is a photo editing software many good free ones out there, I prefer PhotoScape, you can make pics. any sz. you want.

If you need to resize a lot at once I have used this for years and it works great. You just rename the desktop icon to the size you need and drag a whole folder in. What's nice is it retains the originals while adding the resized ones in the folder. Mary
