It's so easy to misjudge exterior color. I spent weeks painting swatches of color on our siding, but it was early springtime, overcast and on the east side of the house. I thought I was choosing a dark green gray. Well, it was more green than gray and unfortunately, in the summer afternoons when the sun was orangey-er in color, the west side of the house (our back yard) took on the nastiest greenish brown color. UGH! It really bothered me for the first few months in the summer, but I eventually didn't think about it anymore. sherwin williams has a handy app that allows you to take a photo of something and use it to find their paint colors to match. If you'd like help with your sidewalk/front step project, you might start a new thread with photos focused on the walkways. Personally, I like concrete sidewalks I just might replace what you have with wider paths.

You want 24 gauge standing seam, either double/mechanical lock, or snap lock, not single lock. You want one that has a kynar finish, which has a very long warranty. Stay away from ribs and striations. If you are right on the ocean I believe there are certain types that can withstand the salty sea air, just not sure which ones are best for that. I would also recommend having the entire roof done with a high temperature ice and water shield. And most important, make sure the installer balances and lines up the seams and doesn't just start with a whole piece on one end. The seams on the end should be the same distance from the edges. Also, the seams should meet at the ridges. Find a good metal artist. They are out there. Make sure you tour their work. Metal roofs are gaining in popularity and there are a bunch a rookies roaming about.

When a poster asks about interior or exterior finishes it's always a help to know and understand all of the other finish choices, since they all have to be harmonious with each other. We still don't know what your exterior wall material and finish will be, and that will have a major effect on the color of gutters and downspouts. If your exterior siding and finish will be some sort of "natural" color, then I think the suggestion above to paint both gutters and downspouts a copper color is a good solution. Ron's suggestion of one color for the gutter, matching the natural stain finish, and a second color for the downspouts, matching the siding finish, is also a good possibility. Be sure to provide some type of mechanical stop to provide snow retention on that roof. Without it, you will experience snow build-up on the roof and it sliding off onto the walkway where someone could be located at the time. I had that problem at a house I owned. Select a standard color from what the metal company offers that will help define the location of the entry. Hunter Orange??
