Double wall oven and microwave or wall oven and convection microwave
Comments (4)I agree with Jpmom that you don't want a MW on top of a double oven - it's just too high. However, although she does not like a MW drawer, many people on this forum adore theirs (note that all MW drawers are made by Sharp, so if you decide to get one, no need to pay up for a different brand name, as it is just a rebadge). Is there no other location in your kitchen? Do you have a pantry where you could keep the MW? There was just a recent thread on this MW placement topic. http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/3833699/placement-of-a-microwave?n=42 I am not a fan of the oven/microwave combos, as I think there are too many compromises in both in order to combine them. Just MHO. If you are doing a major kitchen remodel, you might want to re-think the cooktop in the island, mostly because how are you going to exhaust it. This topic has been covered a zillion times on this forum, but the upshot is if you care about good exhaust, you should have your cooktop on a wall, so that the exhaust capabilities are not hampered by trying to exhaust over an island setup. On the other hand, many people are absolutely fine with poor or no exhaust, and perhaps that is you, so never mind....See MoreDouble oven with microwave on top?

Comments (5)I just removed a 17 yr old KitchenAid oven/microwave combo. The convection oven was great until recently, but the attached microwave died after 2 years. I'd advise to get separate appliances, not attached combo appliances. If one of the attached appliances fails, it's an expensive repair. We've been using countertop microwaves for the last 15 years. I replaced the oven with a GE Twin Flex double oven. I had a shelf built above it & a new outlet installed, and put a new countertop Panasonic mw there. So glad to get the microwave off my counters! . I looked at the small convection/mw speed ovens -- many here love them. But I wasn't sure how much ventilation space we'd have for one. Plus if the Panasonic fizzles out after a couple of years as microwaves are prone to do, it will be easy to plug in a new one. Here's the Twin Flex, two ovens in the space of a single oven. So far, it's been terrific. I'll post a picture of my set up tomorrow, even though the mw isn't trimmed out yet....See MoreFitting Microwave/Oven Combo into Double Ovens Space
Comments (15)"Tried to reach the appliances manufacturers but could not reach a live person and the manuals did not detail this information." Appliances manufacturers aren't going to tell you how to build a shelf any more than an automobile manufacturer is going to tell you how to build a garage. The manual does tell you the size of the appliance; where the oven can be located; and the electrical and ventilation requirements. It's up to you to take this data and design the shelf. For example, the product overview of the LG LMC2075ST provides the oven's dimensions, and states that the oven must be on its own 15 or 20 amp circuit and that there must be 4" of open space on all sides for ventilation....See More8260rm
