Larget matte subway tile?

Wondering if anyone can help me locate some tiles to consider. We'd like a matte white subway tile about 3"x8" or 3"x9" and am having trouble locating one. We don't like crackle or gloss and that seems to limit our options. Any thoughts on companies I can try? Would like to keep it under $15/sq ft. Am I dreaming? :) Our granite is leathered ice white blue. Thanks!

Fireclay tile, one of my favorite handmade tiles, has a 3"x12" tile that is beautiful. The price for this size in the Express or Recycled Clay Body color groups is $30/SF, and the RCB group has matte glazes. I don't know their minimum order, so check that out, but you can order samples fairly easily and their customer service is great. The image below is of the matte glaze Daisy.

Less than 3", but it's matte white & under $15/sq ft.

Wow,, am I glad I checked this thread. First-- Metro is annother tile company. I'm pretty sure instead of having lugs on the sides of the tiles like Dal's, it has a raised ridge that runs the whole perimeter of the tile, but does the exact same thing. As for HD, they have the very same Daltile, but they also have U.S. Ceramics, as well. Also not a bad tile. Secondly, as for matte vs brite glaze, there's no difference in maintanence. The only difference, pretty much is your taste. Third, the only problem I forsee with respect to hanging the Durock is that any time I've hung cement board where plaster was, the studs never seem to be in good alignment. But that's not a big deal. They can either be hand planed or shimmed, as needed. Other than that, it's a piece of cake. Lastly, DO NNOT take those HD classes. I sat in on one and tore the instructor to bits, to the point that he was ready to have me removed from the store. Those classes are a joke. I agree that your WZ price seems way off.... my Gramercy Park subways which were installed last year (not beveled) were 13.50/sq ft. I'm doing a new build and just got prices on two other WZ tiles and they ranged from 14-16.00. Shortly after I got my Gramercy Park WZ tiles I remember someone on GW was asking about the price and they had been quoted double what I received. I bought mine locally from the dealer in our area but I had gotten a quote from a place in San Diego that ships WZ tile. The price was just a hair lower than I paid locally and I decided to give the local store my business and pay happily paid them a bit more. The online source was www.ibtsdiego.com

Matte tiles are also fired and glazed and so clean exactly like glossy tiles. (I have a mixture in my backsplash.) I don't think maple cabinets call for one over the other and I also have seen pretty examples of both in farmhouse kitchens.

Hi, we are doing a satin granite and picked a very basic Creme Marfil marbel in honed and filled style in 3x8 laid in a mix of herringbone behind stove and subway style elsewhere.

If 4x16 isn't too long, check out the Grid line at Ann Sacks. It's one of their less expensive tiles and the matte finish is nice. For the regular subway size and shape, I'd also recommend Daltile.

Thanks everyone! I'd looked at Fireclay and picked Daisy as a great match but we really don't want to spend that much on our backsplash. Still have a bathroom to remodel and need to cut costs somewhere. I tried contacting Ann Sacks but they never got back to me. Will try again. And also look at Daltile some more.

Emser Vogue has 4x16 Less than $10 i'm pretty sure. They have matte in a few colors. It looks great.
