Is this damping off? Last post for a while I promise.
Comments (4)Hard to tell by the pics. If they look like they're slowly dying, then maybe. Tricks for damping off-- Air circulation -- maybe set up a small fan Bottom water --- set packs in a tub of water that has about an inch or so of water for about 15 minutes when watering Don't over water -- let top of soil dry out before watering(more people kill seedlings from over watering than under watering 3% hydrogen peroxide -- spray the soil surface Chamomile tea -- drink a cup, and then use the used tea bag to make another cup -- spray on soil cinnamon -- sprinkle a little on soil...this helps keep the fungus gnats away. Don't get discouraged. I had quite a bout with damping off and peppers. Keep asking questions. It's the cheapest way to learn. Kevin By the way -- you learned already. Keep the shoplights about that distance from the top of the plants. Just right above them without touching. :)...See MoreMaybe I won't hate my kitchen any more-lighter backsplash(pics)
Comments (52)lynn2006, thanks for the link. I did find it. I think I've got it narrowed down to a 2x4 in silver sands slate or a quartzite in the golden white or oracle. I think the brick shape is a nice medium between the diamond I have now (and like the shape of) and 4x4 squares I don't care so much for.The store we hoped to buy it at (prices are great) doesn't carry Crossville, and that's where we'll be stopping on our way home from vacation, but I really want to look at the Oracle too so maybe we'll have to make an another trip to the Big City. Thanks very much to you and to all....See Morelast detail-help with side wall beside backsplash
Comments (5)Thanks for the opinions. I have been very adamant about putting granite on the side wall because when our counter was originally installed, there was a huge gap between that side wall and the counter which the installer caulked. I absolutely hated it and wanted it covered. However, after much searching, we were able to find the same granite (Juparana Golden Beach) with the same lot number at another place that had received too many slabs of it. So we finally got it and our fabricator agreed to replace the counters (on all sides) because when he picked up the slab, he noticed that it seemed to be darker than our original counter. Anyway, he redid it all, but I there is still a gap between that side wall and the counter which he siliconed this time around and told me that the silicone is paintable, so I should paint it the same colour as the wall. Now that I read your opinions, I have had a chance to think things through. I am afraid that a design on the side wall might date things and be too distracting, and I see that I can live with the smaller gap on the side. So I think that just ending the backsplash on the back wall is the best alternative and I am ready to do just that. Thanks again for your input - it was very helpful!...See MoreBacksplash...Did I find the answer? x-posted from HD. Pic included!
Comments (31)You have a beautiful space. I love the pulls you used too! The white doesn't look bad but I would go opposite and choose a darker solid BS. Your granite is on the busier side and it's my belief anytime you have a busy counter, you need a simple backsplash so the two don't clash. Your white BS isn't busy but I think a darker solid colored tile would look awesome. It would pull the darker spots from the granite, along with the dark pulls you have. It will also "pop" from your gorgeous white cabinets. sample pic that i believe is similar, lighter cabinets, with granite and solid BS. Quick mock up...See Morek9arlene
