I am looking for quality unfinished kitchen cabinets and was hoping someone has had some experience with finding them.

Barker will sell their cabinets unfinished and are great quality. We had ours finished and absolutely love them.

We just had The Cabinet Joint send us a couple of doors and they are GORGEOUS! DH does woodworking as a hobby and is happy as a lark. DH will go ahead and make the furniture style cabinets out of walnut and order the unfinished ones from The Cabinet Joint for me to paint. We're trying to finalize the layout now.

I did a google search for "unfinished kitchen cabinets" and came up with this company that does unfinished face frame kitchen cabinets. Their headquarters are in Pennsylvania. I know nothing about them. You should check on the Gardenweb "kitchen" forum for more info on this - others may have valuable experience to share on the subject. HERE

Hello Sabine, this is the wood I am building right now, Alder has a good natural look but is orange color, I do like your pick for staining alder, as walnut would have been my pick to. My cabinets are Alder with Walnut. Kitchen cabinets are distressed Alder and Walnut is natural. Poly Satin finish. Here is Alder in natural state with the same poly satin finish only.
