Tried chlorine bleach for first time... blech!
Comments (42)I use chlorine bleach exclusively and never had a problem. If your claims of dingy towels after use are true, you got something else going on. Percarbonate while an oxidizer, will not outperform LCB as a stain remover. My suspicion is you used too much. 4 rinses is substantial to have lingering effects. All LCB is not the same just as detergent. My question is why are your towels dingy anyway if you have been a user of percarbonate? Dingy clothes are caused by redeposition of soils not remaining in suspension during the wash process, or too low of temperature. Everybody has a preference, but LCB always has a place in the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room. It is the gold standard for disinfection!...See MoreShow your Laundry Setup & Additives (PICTURES)
Comments (192)Jeffrey: nice setup, got those machines to but in white and mines from 2008 heres the washer, not used that much more than for big loads as I got 2 eurosize washer, it sometimes has a hard time to balance before spinn and my detergent compartment gets hardwater buildup so I have 2 sets and switch them out about 6-12 months. My dryser has had its computerboard replaced, cost 1/2 of what the dryer cost new but these machine size cant be found in Sweden any more....See MoreChlorine Bleach
Comments (50)Webuser, I'm not a fan of regular use of chlorine bleach in the laundry, it can be a real pain to rinse out, and that is where the real problems with chlorine is ..not so much in the washer but out of the washer where it lays in the fabric turning things yellow and munching away, I do however believe as long as you follow a few required steps you will have great results, there's a few members here that use chlorine bleach the correct way and it works for them. I may not use it often but it does have its place in the laundry room....See Morechloramine and chlorine water disinfection
Comments (6)That's true for regular chlorine, that just letting it sit makes it go away. I'm pretty sure that's not true for chloramine, though. It may be that letting it sit in full sun will help, though. lgtecher, thanks for that reference. That makes a lot of sense about how soil makes a difference in the efficacy of these disinfectants. I'm led to assume then that it's the soil that renders this stuff pretty benign for plants. It does make me wonder, though, whether soaking seeds before planting really ought to be done in untreated water. (Having just soaked a bunch of Charantais seeds in plain water!)...See Moremamapinky0
