I finally finished another quilt!
Comments (29)Kate--The trick is in prepping the motifs with starched edges so that the fold line is nice and crisp and stable. Then sewing really closely to that edge. I love the method and since I'm going to add quilting anyway, it just didn't make sense to do the extra stitching....See MoreAnother crib quilt
Comments (12)Laura, That thread is white. It is manufactured by "Superior Threads". The particular thread is the "Bottom Line", meant originally for bobbin threads. The size is 60 weight. It is VERY thin. That makes stitching back over part of a pattern much less obvious. I can't swear to it, because the lables are torn - but I think the Coats and Clark thread I use for piecing is 30 weight - stronger, but thicker....See MoreI just finished another quilt..... 2 pics
Comments (17)Thank you all very much! I like it a lot, it's on the loveseat right now and the kitten is playing on it. She's white so she really shows up on it. The swoopy quilting design is just a free-flowing, slightly curved echo pattern. I stitch a few lines all the way thru the quilt and then some smaller ones, sort of in a woodgrain pattern and then repeat the lines or add "knotholes" or whatever seems to suit the space. It was hard to do on this large of a quilt, though. I won't do it again on a big one, too hard to cram 95% of a big quilt thru that little throat space! Thanks again for all the compliments! Coming from quilters, (as opposed to "just" friends and family) it really means a lot!...See MoreAnother quilt finished.
