Visitors on my zinnias, finally my timing was good
Comments (3)Looks like newborns to me. The wings are perfect and unblemished so they could have very well been the cats you saw in July. I just released 5 today from a brood found in the gardens in early August. Got 17 more to go and the Monarchs were out there laying more eggs today. I look at the raising of Monarchs as a winter sowing summer sidekick since all my Asclepias come from winter sowing. :O) Great shots! The third photo is a keeper for the photo album for sure!!...See MoreMy daily visitor to my yard
Comments (6)That's funny that you name them. Mine are Momma, Blackie, Little Blackie and "the other one"... LOL! They don't usually bother me (even to the point that they come out to "help" when I'm raking leaves) but when they started doing the twisty thing as a pair on my pool deck - I drew the line and got out the hose! BTW - If you missed your hummer for a day, she came down south here for a quick visit - thanks for sharing! It was the first time I have seen one here....See MoreNew visitors in my backyard...
Comments (10)catherine, you get Indigo Buntings????? I saw an IB in my yard (southern Michigan) about 15 years ago and if I ever see another I will no doubt faint on the spot. My Sibley Birds East says they summer here but obviously not in my yard. Lucky you! Feather, as usual, your pictures are glorious. The Blue Grosbeak knocked my socks off. "Rare" for my area, so I will probably never see one. HOWEVER, today for the first time (it's finally warm out, but zero blooms on my Red Bud Tree) I have 3 "adult nonbreeding" Rose-breasted Grosbeaks and 2 Baltimore Orioles. I don't believe I've seen these guys before. I am in heaven. My Chipping Sparrows are back, my Cardinals never left (YAY), and the Goldfinches are on all my feeders. I switched back to C&S suet from a generic suet, and my various woodpeckers are all back. The Robins are taking baths in all my birdbaths, everything is flying through my backyard except the Cooper's Hawk, I've just had a dish of butter pecan ice cream, and life is good....See Morevisitors to my wild yard
Comments (2)Oh how lovely! I'd die for a wild yard like that but my neighbors in my 55+ community would frown on it. Please keep posting pics ;) Rhonda...See MoreSheila
