Is my crested euphorbia going to bloom?
Comments (6)Xuan, Yes, but you might want to dip your cutting instrument in alcohol before you make the final cut on each section - this ensures the plant that you've cut has a final and hygenic excision. And of course have some lukewarm water (to staunch the flow of the E. sap) and take care to not come in contact with the sap. I remember the day I had to trim 25' Euphorbia ingens trees that had branched too much. While I didn't get burned, there was mild tingling for the second part of the show. I looked like a riot cop for the G20 - full clothing (two shirts!), boots, face shield, gloves, the whole bit. Then my friend, in shorts, a muscle shirt and flip-flops steps up and whacks away at the tree for a good half-hour, with nary a drop of latex landing on him. It was just one of those Zen things, I guess, or I intended to be awfully clumsy....See MorePossible cut worm Flower tops cut off
Comments (1)Is it the blossom loss that is the main symptom? Or is there signs of chewed blossom stems? I sure can't think of any insect that does that!...See MoreRootstock not cut off. Cut or wait?
Comments (13)in my z5 MI.. with its short growing season ... second pic above ... i would cut away the part.. just above the first whorl of the understock ... next spring ... and then forget about the rest for 5 years or so .. lol ... i dont have spare grafts of my own sitting around if i screw it up ... i dont know what clem means the growth is done for the season ... of course they are extended for the season .. but the rest of the season is storing energy in the roots for winter.. and next years growth if you cut off half or 66 % of the root masses food making machines .. needles ... what is going to store the food??? BUT TO BE SURE .... there probably is no wrong answer ... BTW .. that is a huge piece of scion ... the pice behind the UStk trunk.. how much of that was extended this season??? .. if you know??? ken...See MoreEuphorbia dying - cutting help
Comments (5)one trick Stush taught me: Cactus or Euphorbia cuttings should be allowed to callous and then placed in to pure grani grit- do not water. When cutting looks parched, use a sprayer to mist the top of the stones to just dampen them. Leave the cutting in bright light without direct sun of dry drafts from heaters ( the a/c would also no be advised). Be patient and wait till there are signs of growth, before you repot it....See Morekathi_mdgd
