Before & After Bedroom REALLY Pic Heavy
Comments (45)Thank you all for your kind comments. I should note, this is my friends winter home. She has 2 homes in Canada so this one has never been much of a priority to her as far as decorating. Her other 2 homes are stunning and this one is just catching up....See MoreCraiglist mirror worth $150?
Comments (13)"I don't think a mirror would hold up outside unless somehow you sealed the edges with something." I've had a small barnboard framed mirror hanging on the outside of my house for years and the mirror has not changed in any way. There are different grades of mirror tho. We had several mirrors inset into old picture and window frames and the glass shop used leftover cuts of mirror they had around so it was very inexpensive. They were much smaller than this factory window tho. Some of the pieces of mirror were heavier than others. I sold these in my store for a good mark-up. Still much less expensive than new mirrors in home decor shops. Wigardenerwannabe, have you actually seen this mirror in person? I checked online and there were some very similar old factory windows turned into mirrors priced at upwards of $800. They appeared to be metal and this one is perhaps wood. I'd love to find an old window frame like this for $25!...See MoreBefore/After pics of our Dining Room!
Comments (28)I finally picked up a chip of the RL Walnut at Home Depot today. What a great color! You know how sometimes you see photos of someone's newly painted room and the color looks fantastic? You think, Oh, I need this one for my home. And you love it so much you think you could just go down and plunk your money on the table for a gallon or two without even testing it? Then, you get the chip in person and think, Wow! Who knew it was so dark? Or Whoa! I certainly don't want those peach tones in my house! Well, not true for this one. The chip is as good as the color in Dixie's pix. There is an undercurrent of green, but I can see why it doesn't really show in her photos. It's a little deeper than the Northampton Putty (BM) that I used in my DR. I would have certainly considered the Walnut if I had had the chip a few months ago. Comments (20)Thanks guys! Breezy: I cannot remember the paint color but my painter is still working in the basement so I'll ask him tomorrow. I wanted a warm grey for that room. Neutral but not a cold feeling. Enduring: the kids' bath is black slate. I love slate but did not want as much variation in size of the tiles as most multicolor slate tends to have lots of variation...easy to stub toes. Black slate does not and I loved the black/white theme so it is easy to change accessories as the kids grow up. The guest bath is slate but not black. It is actually mostly navy with some gold tones. Very interesting and again less variation in size. Still waters: we had the heating system reworked (boiler in basement so its radiant heat) so we adjusted some of the baseboard heaters and took that one out and kept the one on the back wall. Worked out well to add the extra storage....See MoreKippy
