You don't have room for an island - at least not if you want to be able to actually move around in the Kitchen! The Kitchen appears to be 142". With a range (27"D) on one wall and a refrigerator (~31"D with handles) on the opposite wall, you have: Range/Sink Wall @ 27"D + Refrigerator Wall @ 31"D + 42" Aisle b/w range/sink and hypothetical island + 42" aisle b/w refrigerator wall and hypothetical island ======= 142" That's all the room you have - there's no room left for an actual island. Note that 42" is the minimumrecommended work aisle - and that's for a one-person Kitchen. If more than one person might be working in the Kitchen (prepping, cooking, baking, cleaning up, unloading the DW, getting a snack, etc.), then 48" is the recommended minimum. (FYI...aisles are measured to/from the items sticking out into them the farthest. That's why I used the depth of the range and the depth of the refrigerator, including handles, for the perimeter measurements. The 24" depth that most computer software, most cabinet sales people and some KDs use only includes the cabinet box - it does not include doors/drawer fronts, hardware, or counter overhangs. If there's an appliance that's even deeper, they often don't measure from the appliance.)

Stay with one type of siding, and one color for the siding and another for the trim. Use a third color just for the doors. Once you decide on that, then select the roof color. But very frankly, your roof doesn't really show up much so whatever you select should coordinate but it's not going to really matter that much. It's difficult to even see what color it is from your photo. And I wouldn't worry about the colors of the other houses--have you ever seen photos of Nantucket, Cape Cod or Martha's Vineyard? All the homes are gray shingle with white trim. And in Litchfield, CT, they are almost all white with black shutters. It's really your choice, not your neighbor's. Gray, white or green like Celery and Bev posted look very nice.

Hi Barbara, Since the perimeter cabinets will be Ocean Spray, consider going lighter on the island. That doesn’t mean you have to go white. You could choose something like Whispering Air, or you could use Ocean Spray diluted (50% or 30%) for the island. If you’re going to paint cabinets, absolutely consider using a urethane based trim enamel. SW has a great one, BM is an alkyd coating that is less durable. You can color match any color from any brand of paint, or take a look at SW Swimming and Glimmer for a similar pairing, or Blithe Blue if you really want to go darker on the island. I ended up ordering one of each size. Measured just the outside dimensions to compare the sizes (didn't want to disturb the packaging. The width and shape of the bowl portion is virtually identical, same width and angle, with the larger being a bit more rounded at the bottom. The difference is in the height with the 3.4 quart being 1/2 " taller than the 2.6 quart version. (4" and 3.5" exterior dimension). I expect the interior to also be 1/2" shorter, so just under 3" tall.
