Sheer linen window treatments in a sunroom?
Comments (30)Your window treatment sounds wonderful. If my ceiling were level, I'd be using the long rods to put drapes in the corners and middle to pull closed over sheers. The linen I'm considering, I have two panels in the natural that I tried in my master bedroom. They are significantly more substantial than the crinkled voile up now. I think they'll do a better job of filtering light. The spacing between the windows isn't consistently the same, so inside mount, rather than outside, minimizes the imperfections. These photos show the problems. The first is the slider and narrow window on a slightly sloping ceiling. The long wall window frames aren't even the same height. This, at some point in time, had been an exterior open porch. I'm going to do something different to cover the slider--mounting a draw curtain or shade above the trim to even it up with the window. The ceilings slope on each end for roof drainage. The other end of the room, behind the daybed shows the windows are straight, but the trim above isn't. The old board ceiling is charming, so I didn't update it....See MoreHow do I fix sunken trim (drywall over plaster disaster)
Comments (6)UGHHHHH ... What is wrong with people, why do they do that! If plaster is bad enough to drywall instead of repair theplaster, then its bad enough to REMOVE COMPLETELY. Should be easy if its that bad of condition. If its stuck on tight and cant be removed - then just fix the dang plaster! Futzing w/ new trim ... that could be expensive too if you get something milled to be similar to what you have... youd have to build out the windows/doors as well to get the trim to be on top of the drywall. Id almost be tempted to remove the drywall and do it right It is possible to do drywall patches , even quite large depending on the extent of the damage, and not have to remove the trim. But Im afraid it would still be a beast of a job. Sorry Im not much help - you have my sympathies....See MoreSun room w/angled ceiling; lighting fix!!
Comments (2)What is there now is just plain tacky , the fan and all that lighting needs to go. As for pot lights they are a great thing for one level of lighting but IMO cannot be the sole source of light in a room. I agree to add the insulation between the beams an close them in with drywall that will give you the opportunity to add 4” LED pot lights and then if you want you could add a couple of hanging lights too. But you need to add lamps for a good level of light lower in the space....See Morewindow treatments to keep sunroom warm in winter?
Comments (7)Hey There: A great way to improve the overall well feeling in a sunroom are bottom-up top-down honeycomb shades. First, they do install as inside mount to your window and do not cover your trim no do they stick out and make your room smaller. Then they are super functional and versatile in usage. With our 'no-header' system, you also have no strings across your glass. Last but not least, they do work with your crank out windows. The double layer fabric prevents the warm air to touch the cold glass and cool down. The honeycomb shades are literally creating an air insulation between your room and the cold glass. This works the other way round in the summer as well. Check us out at www.fenstermann.com or give us a call at 619.665.9446...See MoreVith
