There is a huge variety of porcelain and ceramic tiles. And many different whites. I would highly recommend getting a ton of sample tiles and laying them out near your marble subway tile. That way you can find a tile that looks just right for you. I think overall mixing the marble and the ceramic tile will look lovely, as long as you carefully choose a white that compliments the marble. Not sure if you're tiling the floor, but if you are, perhaps you could do your white ceramic on the floor as well and do a trim around the room in the marble. I think this might help tie the tiles together so that the marble looks like a special feature you've added in as an accent.

I think you are asking me? If not....sorry... I will take the tile up cabinet height around my window as there are cabinets on both sides.....I am leaving the rest of the window without trim as I have 2 & 7/8" from cabinet to edge of window...and thought I would put a small trim around it...but then when they put the light rail up there is only 1 & 7/8"..so think it's too small for trim.....What is everyone's opinion? Just found out today...that the guys that was going to do the tile (looks like they work as a team) won't be able to do it until the one that is having knee surgery is able to work ...which could be weeks!! He came today to get paid for all the other work he did...and I asked him if his partner would go ahead and put the tile up.....He is suppose to let me know... Oh well I've waited this long....and really not long at all...so a few more weeks is OK....just anxious to see the kitchen completely finished...now that I finally have the Subway tile sitting in boxes waiting to be installed.

Home Depot Expo carried a very nice 1X2 in white and a light yellow/gold, with the classic crackle finish, in 1X1 ft sheets. When all the Expos were shut down, Floor and Decor sold all of Expo's old tile and glass stock. At the Floor and Decor near us (Atlanta area), you could have gotten all the white tile you wanted for $10 per square foot. I think that was late summer or fall. They had exactly one sheet of the yellow, and that's what we wanted. Ended up finding the 15 squares we needed in a Floor and Decor in Texas and had it shipped. Even with shipping it was around $20 per square foot. I actually have one square foot of the white left - I bought it to practice with. It is by BANAN APPEAL, made in the Dominican Republic. So has anyone seen pictures of alternatives besides a entire row of an accent tile? We have a 15 foot run that is very horizontal in nature, and I'm not that fond of having yet another horizontal line. But I REALLY would like an accent of some sort besides what is going over the stovetop in the middle. I was at the tile store today, and 1 of the employees suggested randomly dropping a skinny row of mosiac between the subway tiles. We were looking at a noce 3x6, plus a polished scabos (matches granite well, and I don't like glass) mosiac. Interjecting the mosiac seems to really go against the spirit of doing a subway, but it could give an accent. So is this mission impossible, and I should look at a more conventional tile pattern? Any other ideas?
