Full Depth Fridge built in look next to cabinets
Comments (6)What is your current aisle width to the island? This is important. If you are comfortable reducing that width everything else is doable. We have a full depth Samsung french door that is in a run of base and wall cabinets that are pulled forward to match the depth of the refrigerator. The added bonus for us is that while the cabinets are pulled forward the counter depth is an extra 6" deep along this run so we added appliance garages along the whole length under the upper cabinets. The stand mixer, the toaster, the food processor, the bread machine, etc. are all housed in there but we still have enough functional room in front of the appliance garages---about 18"---to use for a sandwich and breakfast making area. So much depends on your actual measurements and how you intend to use the space. Good luck....See MoreRegular fridge with a fridge drawer or larger built-in fridge?
Comments (2)We have a built-in 30" all-fridge (Thermador Freedom Column) and two 24" GE Monogram fridge drawers -- and they both are packed, all the time! (We also have a 30" all-freezer in the kitchen plus a chest freezer in the basement.) We did our kitchen ~four years ago, and our two children are now 7 & 5 -- my point being I only have two small children (not voracious teenagers). Granted, we are strict vegetarians, so we have lots (& lots) of fresh produce. But both my husband and I are of the mind: you can NEVER have enough fridge / freezer space! freezer on left, fridge on right: both have faux drawer fronts to help break up the plane stacked fridge drawers are just to left of sink [on right side of pic], with the fridge on the far left of the photo, just next to ovens...See MoreShould fridge cabinet be as deep as fridge?
Comments (24)I definitely wanted a full-sized frig, not counter-depth, so I had my cabinets bumped out about 6 inches so the frig front would line up flushed with the cabinets. It looks as close to built-in as it can be without being counter-depth. Absolutely love it!! I have my broom/utility closet on the left split in half length wise. One side for for vacuum, step ladder and broom, etc. and the other half with small shelves for cleaning products, toolbox, etc. I also had my contractor install an electrical outlet in the closet for charging small appliances if needed. Here's a couple of shots...sorry, the second one barely shows the side of my frig but I wanted to show depth. href="http://s254.photobucket.com/albums/hh117/coolmom1/?action=view&current=sideIMG_1309_61.jpg" target="_blank">...See Morewould a 24" fridge look OK in a space designed for a 36" fridge?
Comments (32)When I bought my first fridge, I knew that I didn't use much fridge space, but I went ahead and got a 36" counter depth (with ice, not in door) for my small kitchen. However, those were not so prevalent 24 years ago so it was expensive (but not sub-zero expensive). Could I have gotten a smaller one? Probably. Would it have been counter depth? No. I still have that fridge. A marriage, then a move, then kid, then divorce later I most definitely don't want a smaller fridge when I get a new one. I'd like it to be bigger, but I want a sub zero integrated, so it may end up being slightly smaller. That makes me really nervous. I'm hoping that going from a side by side to an over/under layout will help. Fingers crossed!...See Moreainelane
