Oh, boy I hope they weren't in there this evening. I was spraying the front for mosquitoes and fleas and had John do the back. I forgot to tell him to not do the greenhouse and he did that and all the plants too. I hope it doesn't kill my roses and chrysanthemum. It said not to use on those. He sprayed all my plants that weren't near ponds so I hope it dosen't kill any of them! I saw quite a few critters on the brugs when I was stripping them today but they looked much less than there was before. Blasting them has been working well except THey were hiding on the back side of the plant, lol. I had to turn each plant around and sure enough they were all line up in the spots I had been not getting too. Sneaky dang mealy bugs. I laid several of them on the ground and blasted on side then rolled and did it again until I got them all the way around this time.

My afflicted plants are all indoors. I think my husband said he saw a mouse in the house the other day - so a mouse might be doing this? We do get flies now and then, if we leave the door open; we live in the Sonoran Desert, and it's still summer for us right now - our average daytime temperature is around 110-degrees - so our doors don't stay open for very long. When we do get flies, they're the standard house fly. I haven't seen anything unusual or out of the ordinary. Although... I just had a thought. We do get house geckos at night. By and large they're all outside, but one time I did find one in the house. Do you suppose a gecko could've done this? Or... Another thought. For a brief period, I was taking my flowering plants (my Topsy-Turvy was one of them) outside in the morning and setting them on the lawn in hopes that pollinators would come along and take an interest. I stopped doing that well over a month ago, but I wonder if maybe I brought something inside... We also have crickets in the house sometimes. Man, why didn't I think of all these things when I first posted?

Most of my reptile experience comes from herpetology class in college. Sadly there's not much in the way of geckos in Oklahoma. Funny thing is there's a tropical gecko, the mediteranean gecko, that has a breeding population on the campus of OU in and on the zoology building. Seems a grad student's project escaped and now they live off the bugs around the lights and overwinter in the walls and ceiling of the old building. Very cool little guys and not easy to catch! My only other experience was with a Tokay gecko. DO NOT...i repeat...DO NOT...make the mistake of getting one of these. I'm sure they're cute when babies but when the grow up they are vicious! They are really strong and have a bite like a snapping turtle. I'll spare you the details of when we fed a 'pinky' to the classroom tokay. yikes! What about skinks? We have lots of them in Oklahoma and they can therefore take extremes of temps and conditons plus they're really cool.

Read old posts on this forum. My vivarium is exactly what you're thinking of, though I don't have any animals in it yet as I'm still working on keeping the humidity high enough. As for mixing day geckos and PDFs, I don't think it works. And believe me, I've researched it! Their temp. and humidity and even food requirements are all compatible, but geckos need a basking area with a heat lamp, and a UV light. PDFs don't need a UV light, and I don't think they would like a heat lamp. Also, you need a glass top to your tank to keep the humidity high enough, and the glass would block something like 95% (or more) of the UV rays from the UV light anyways, rendering it useless. If, however, you have it on good authority that you can mix day geckos and PDFs (pet store employees are not 'good authority'), then please tell me! I would love to house a group of D. azureus and a Lined Day Gecko (Phelsuma lineata lineata) in my 85 gal! I think that in order to make it work at all, you would need to choose the largest PDFs and the smallest Gecko, to avoid the frogs becoming food. Also, the small day geckos would be able to eat the fruit flies that the PDFs eat, as well as the occasional tiny cricket. The fact is, you have asked for a TON of information, as this is not a simple set-up. Have you done any other research? Why don't you decide exactly what species you would like, and research their requirements? And, once again, search this forum. I have a waterfall with a pool at the bottom and a stream, and yes, I did just carve some styrofoam and cover it with silicone and gravel (to make it look nice). But there are other ways. Some people use a hollow piece of wood for the stream. Just look around and see what you find attractive.
