mixing granite and laminate countertops
Comments (5)hmmmmm, this is a tough one because most of us here love stone: granite, marble, soapstone.... so mixing with laminate.... well WHY NOT! If your island will also have stools and people will be sitting there, then that's a great place for your granite. And your work space (counter tops) if they look good together, then why couldn't you mix them!!!! I have friends with Corian and I actually loved it. It was the coolest color (that you can't find in any stone) and looked really, really nice. Then they had stone on one small area plus stone tiles around the base of their island (their island and counters are Corian) so they mixed stone and laminate and it works beautifully. People take these things too seriously some times and by people, I mean ME.... but the truth is I've seen a lot of different styles and combinations and when they look good -- the look GOOD. Know what I mean, kmarcel?...See MoreGranite countertop color advice desperately needed! Thank you!
Comments (4)Rupsup, That is a wonderful transformation and a great way to show everyone how wonderful new counters in a color you like can work. I had white tile, grout cleaning is a nightmare. ~boxer Nicole, Can you post pictures of your space? Seeing how large or small, the lighting, the textures, visual space ... can help with making granite suggestions. TB is a fantastic choice and I agree with Ginny, the slabs vary. What colors do you like? What feeling are you going for? What is your backsplash like? Are you keeping or getting new? Are you thinking rustic, elegant with triple waterfall edge, or maybe contemporary... I am happy to post pictures just need a little more information. ~boxerpups...See MoreNEED ADVICE - Kitchen Island Granite Overhang Support
Comments (8)I worry when my 200 lb teenage son puts weight on my 12" overhang ... yours just seems like an accident waiting to happen. I would never think of putting weight on a cantilevered surface like this, but most people don't even give it a thought and some would even hop up and attempt to sit there!...See MoreGranite countertop has different height. Comments (24)"I shoot the laser across the front. On the left the laser shoots right at the top edge of granite. On the right it shoots below the top edge as you can see on the picture. The laser is level." You're only getting a level check across the front edge with the laser. You must check the plane of the slabs to each other on each side, side to side/front, side to side/rear, rear left to front right, rear right to front left, and front to back each side. This is why you put a 4' level across the appliance opening in an "X' fashion as mentioned earlier....See MoreAmber
