Comments (3)hmm, of those choices the honey locust is more likely. I have found a couple of those very infrequently. It's hard to see from the photo, but there does appear to be a definate stem with leaves branching off it. J's ladder leaves, from what I've seen, all sprout from the ground in a rosette-type layout....See MoreUnknown Parent seedling
Comments (5)Herman, your right a seedling is A seedling is a young plant sporophyte developing out of a plant embryo from a seed. Seedling development starts with germination of the seed. ... from google that i looked up. My daughter and son make fum of the way i choose words sometimes incorrectly, growing up my dad had a heavy very heavy italian accent and never seemed to really lose it and his choice of words were usually incorrect as well.My mistake is was a sucker i call it that was growing on the bottom of plant and i pushed it under the soil and put some more soil on top this spring i cut it and stuck in a small pot and it took off.My mistake on choice of words and incorrect spelling i use a lot as well. Please be ware that it will probably happen again im sure. Smileing Martin...See MoreSpots on seedling leaves.
Comments (2)Don, Are these seedlings still inside or outside hardening off or planted inground already. Witrh the rain we've been having if they're outside it's quite possible that they could have a foliage disease or two. But I can't ID folaige diseases from what you've said since the lesions/spots on the leaves help make the diagnosis in terms of size, shape, color and whether there are or are not yellow areas around the spots. I wouldn't expcet tou to find a lot of info by doing a search on "spots", LOL, but I would have hoped that you had found the thread here called Problems Solver # 2 which is here on the first page. Go to that thread and find tyhe link to TAMU and try to match up the pictures with what you're seeing. The four most common causes of foliage diseases are: Early Blight ( A. solani) Septoria Leaf Spot Bacterial Speck Bacterial Spot. ....so i'd look at those first. I also ger random spots on foliage from time to time and it isn't disease at all, rather just envionmental "who knows what", which I know isn't that helpful/ So knowing where these plants have been and where they are now is useful info to know. Comments (11)Follow up (it took me forever to find this thread). Well, of course, it was a malva, but, to my surprise, not the same as from the pink silvery one I have around. Instead, it blooms are cerise on white. (Not sure what's eating the leaves). I have no idea from where this came. Maybe some garden center plant had a seed in the potting mix. I have a few other volunteer malva and who knows what they will be....See Moreperen.all Zone 5a Ontario Canada
