It's just getting old. Starting to yellow between the veins. It will eventually turn completely yellow and fall off.

When insects attack (should make a good TV show) ..... ..... plants mount a number of genetically encoded responses to the wounding, ALL of which require energy allocation. In plant cells, there are genes that control proteins functioning in defense, sending defense signals, altering metabolism, controlling cellular maintenance, and regulating photosynthesis, as well as many genes of unknown function. In short, plant energy reallocation is prioritized in the plant's own defense, & other things, like every day metabolism and photosynthesis are put on the back burner. When wounding occurs (insect attack) there is a "wound response" that occurs both at the site of injury as well as distally (in other plant parts). Plants can even differentiate between the wounds of a pin and those of insects and react in different fashion to the "attack". Without getting more technical, the plant produces various anti-feedants, anti-metabolites, and toxins that make the insects feel pretty unwelcome - as long as the plant is in good vitality, which means growing strongly, or has high energy reserves. In other words, as long as the plant is in good health. Stressed or strained plants cannot quickly or efficiently respond and ward off insect attack. The speed with which the response occurs, and the effectiveness of the defense response are also both energy driven, so it should be no surprise that plants grown indoors under constant stress are highly susceptible to insect marauders. If you want to keep the bugs away - your first line of defense should not be to reach for a systemic poison, but to keep your plants growing with as much vitality as possible, which is a cultural - not a chemical thing. ;o) Al

Can't offer much info, but just a friendly note that you'll probably get more attention if you post some photos of the fungus, the whole plant, the potting media, and give some description of what conditions the plant is in/is living in. The pests look like scale to me. I've seen neem oil and Bayer 3-in-1 recommended as treatment options. Again, I don't have much experience here (sorry), but throwing that info out there in case you want to search around for more details. There are many threads about scale treatment on this forum.

11/1/17 update: it’s gotten much worse. The pale splotching has suddenly increased in frequency and spread. I’m noticing splotches on more leaves, and overnight they will turn completely. Some of the branches look gray too: Did I give it too much light too quickly after the transplant? Some of the fine roots came off during cleaning so maybe it has too many leaves in comparison to the roots? Also, the breeze has started to turn cold. It’s still 72 degrees F but the breeze in the house is definitely cool instead of warm now. Is it too cold in front of an open window? I have a spot near my other plants where the light is bright, but it’s essentially where it used to be (on the catwalk) just with more air circulation. The FLF I transplanted in gritty at the same time is looking very strong but hasn’t had new growth after its repot in May. It’s on the same wall just on the other side of the room. The brown spots were from previous root rot. They’re all about 10 feet from a wall of East-facing windows: Here’s the soil now: About 4 months after receiving, when I started noticing the hypo-pigmentation: Right after transplant: Currently: Pale splotching/bleaching used to just be a few leaves at a time but now they’re in handfuls. So far, loss has been all lower leaves but the top is drooping significantly. Too much light too soon? Too cold with an open window even if it’s around 70 degrees F outside? Just normal stress response to changes? It’s been about a week. All thoughts appreciated!
