Get a sample can of the paint color you want, paint the door, and see how you like it. If it doesn't look good, prime over the green and paint it white.

I couldn't find gray, but just wanted to share these to give you an idea of white with other colors.

Thanks MizG! I definitely like it a lot better in the one picture where they painted the plastic frame as well as the door panels. In fact I don't think it looks too bad overall. Much appreciated!

tibrix--that was my original plan but after sitting on the paint for 3 months I've realized I'm afraid to paint it dark, then go back to white, because it will be forever chipping/peeling to reveal the dark. Much easier to paint white over white if that's what I have to do.

Those white frames are always plastic and I hate to draw attention to them. The solid wood doors don't have those frames, only metal doors--which may be more practical but they're not as stylish!

I actually like the dark door colors with white muntins, especially if your house has any white exterior trim

My personal preference would be to only have contrasting muntins if you have other white trim on the house, like the first photo MizG posted. Otherwise it might look weird. I realize this isn't the same door as your, but this in particular looks odd to me:

I have the same problem. i did find a company that makes aftermarket mullions that go inside and or outside and exactly cover the existing ones. i cannot recall the name of the company but i do remember that they were extremely expensive …. like 400 plus which i thought was outrageous for what the were.

All the pictures look ridiculous IMO

I would paint the door and grills the same color to match

You could paint them your favorite color on the outside and white on the inside to match the interior trim assuming it is white

The one picture I attached has black doors on the inside with white frames next to white doors

It also looks ridiculous, also a chair in front of the door, that also looks ridiculous, Lol

Also, I like prairie style grills as they don't obstruct the view as much

And look sweet

So, they are probably due for a new coat of paint anyway, Lol
