Comments (5)Are you watering the plants heavily when fertilizing? You want a significant amount of water to drain out in order to prevent fertilizer salts from accumulating as og said above. I would thoroughly flush the pots with pure water, maybe even soak them in a bucket for several minutes, and water heavily when fertilizing from now on. If that doesn't work, try replacing the media and checking the roots while you're at it. -Chris...See MoreAdenium seedlings are so hungry and grow so slow...
Comments (5)Hey guys I am pretty new here too. I have not had any of the problems you guys are talking about. But the size of mine seems to be all over the board. I am looking forward seeing what your seedlings look like at 2 1/2 months. Mine are approaching the 5 or 6 week mark. I know I planted very early April. I will post a new picture tomorrow of mine as well, I'd like to compare as well. One thing that I want to note and hopefully get some comment back on is this. I had one get pulled up/knocked down by my son "petting" them. It was just laying on top of the soil so I made a hole with a toothpick and dropped it in and watered it. This little guy has taken off! It's not tall as some but the leaf growth and the trunk thickness is as good or better than all the rest in my opinion. It's too early to say but I am wondering if at some point dropping these guys down doesn't promote more girth? I think that in another 2 or 3 weeks I will be ready to transplant and I intend to experiment a little with them by dropping some down and seeing what happens. What do you guys think? Here's a link to my older pictures of the seedlings. John Here is a link that might be useful: My seedlings....See MoreWhen will adenium come out of dormancy?
Comments (8)One of the cultural rules I follow here in a very dry, little humidity area is if there are no leaves I don't water. They are still dormant. Wait for leaves before watering again, and perhaps give it artificial lights. Or perhaps change the soil to give the plants a kick start. Perhaps some fertilizer as well. This what I do here soon as know it is spring and are nights are going to be above 55F This month for us is foggy, and now until about June 20 is normal. Good Luck, Jeff is a good grower so read his instructions very carefully. Norma...See MoreHelp: My Adenium has sticky rosettes and refuses to grow
Comments (11)Hi Amnaa. I am battling the same thing. Other people might not know what you are describing, but I know exactly what you are talking about. Terminal leaves are getting stuck together, and a white, crystalline material can be seen when tugging the leaves apart. If left alone, it seems to really do a number on a plant's ability to grow and put out new leaves I, too, thought it was some kind of insect or pest, but I have moved on from that assumption. I have begun to wonder if it has more to do with environmental conditions. I live in a a place that is very dry with low atmospheric humidity. It's my best guess that the stuff sticking leaves together is some kind of excess cuticle, whose original purpose was to keep the terminal growth from drying up. I would suggest spraying the terminal ends with warm water every evening. It seems to be helping my plants by keeping the leaves from getting stuck. I've noticed that warm water is much more effective than even room temp water....See MoreHalfway There
