Cold Night Last Night (4/24/2015)...
Comments (3)RedSun is right, soil temperature is important - you'll want to wait until the soil is 60F. Warm weather plants will just sit there and sulk until the soil warms to their liking. If the tomatoes are becoming pot-bound, them move them up to a larger container where they'll be more comfortable while waiting for the soil to warm up....See MoreBrandy Boy Contest -2015 (4)
Comments (157)I'm a little disappointed in Brandy Boy. It is heavily infected with early blight, and the only tomatoes on the plant are the ones that formed back in late May, when I first put them in the ground. My other tomatoes are resisting EB much better, and they are continually setting new fruit. 'Beefsteak' has already given me ripe tomatoes. 'KBX' should follow suit in a day or two. Brandy Boys look just as green as ever. In Brandy Boy's defense, it has the largest tomatoes out of all my plants, and it also has the most fruit setting on one truss. Hopefully, in a few more days I will have some ripened fruit to show everyone. However, unless the taste is absolutely out-of-this-world, I probably won't grow Brandy Boy again....See MoreHow Is The Weather ..(3)- 2015
Comments (283)There were 2 fatalities that were on the news but for the most part it mostly created a traffic nightmare. I was able to take the train down to Seattle for a soccer game yesterday during the cleanup without any problems and most areas have power back on now. We're used to getting strong wind storms in October or November but this one was particularly early and because of the prolonged drought and since the trees haven't lost their leaves yet, the trees were particularly vulnerable to high winds (the leaves act like sails and create drag forces on the tree)....See MoreUMass Extension Landscape Message December 4, 2015
