Schedule 80 pipe really significant?

I'm planning a small extension to 3/4" irrigation pipes in my garden. It will run from an underground T a few feet to a wood post, then up the post to a hose bib.

From the last time I did this, I know that schedule 80 parts are recommended for above-ground piping. Looking on the web, though, I can't find any retail sellers who offer an adequate selection in schedule 80. Many have a pretty complete catalog of 2" and larger parts, but very little in 3/4".

Now I'm wondering how real the schedule 80 requirement is. Am I having trouble finding 3/4" schedule 80 parts because no one bothers to use them? Does it really make any difference?
