Should I take this inflo off?

I've been trying to root a cutting I've had since June. About a week ago I dug it up to check for roots (I know I shouldnt, but I'm impatient) and it had two little roots. I was so excited so I replanted it to let them grow. Well, today I noticed an inflo growing on it and when I dug up the cutting, the roots were gone. I'd love for this cutting to branch out after it flowers, but I also want it to root. What's the best course of action here? Remove the inflo or take my chances and hope it roots? I don't think I broke the roots, I was very careful in repotting it and I unbury other cuttings and repot them with no problem. I just need to know if I should remove the inflo

It they stall out, then it is sometimes best to remove the inflo. Your digging it up (twice!) could have puts stress on the new fragile roots. This is why many of us use transparent containers to root them. Keep them dry and motionless until leaves are 6 inches long. When you see the roots, then it has rooted!

But I would keep giving it warmth and don't water it. Are the leaves growing at all?? Do you have a pic?

Maybe someone else can offer better advice.

Rooting Rule One: After the initial watering, do not water, move, disturb, or dig around a cutting until you see six inch leaves or roots are seen in a clear bag or bottle. Rooting Rule Two: If an inflo begins and the leaves are not growing or showing signs of constant growth, cut the inflo off so the energy is concentrated on rooting. Rooting Rule Three: If the stem is hard at ground level, you are still in the game. Leave it be. If you violate these rules, do not be surprised if you have rooting failure. Impatience is an enemy of success.

Mindy, Congrats on your first bloom! Yay! I think it was Peg who said that if you thought you were hooked before, just wait--I second that. Get ready--it's a sickness LOL Lynn, K gives really smart advice (by the way, K, loved your recent photos of the Punchbowl, the planes, and Divine) and also has been growing our beloved trees far longer than I. That said, my Veracruz Rose did the same thing as your Elsie, and because VCR is such a monster-sized tree, I think I'm gonna leave the inflo-branch be, because it's pretty darn big!: pro'ly only 25% smaller than the bona fide branches that resulted from the blooming point. I just want to experiment and see what happens. K, I'll likely be confirming the soundness of your advice before long...but I'll report back. Greg

Anything you do right now would be for next year anyways. In my location (San Antonio) I fertilize until the beginning of October.

Perhaps you can however- On a cast iron boiler you must get the water temp up to 130-140 within minutes or risk condensing which will destroy the boiler and flue. You must generate enough Btu's input, to raise the building mass of water to the desired water design temp required with piping and convection included (perhaps 180 degrees for the coldest day) otherwise you will have cold tenant complaints. Usually when a boiler is oversized, you can start with down-firing it by 10% to start without a risk of the two above situations.

One house up the street from me was listed with one REA for 6 months and did not sell. A couple of days ago, a new REA put up signs that say "Just Listed" And oddly enough, they didn't reduce the price. As buyers, we didn't give a hoot about how long the house was on the market until we chose the house we wanted. Then we used the DOM to help figure our offer. After a little negotiating, we found the point of overlap between what we were willing to pay and what the seller was willing to accept. I wouldn't take the house off the market either. Like it was already mentioned, you can't sell a house that isn't for sale. Well, unless you are our neighbors. We got them a buyer after they took their house off the market because our friend was relocating to the area. I wouldn't count on that happening though!
