Jubilee Watermelon - brown tendril but white on the bottom

I can't tell if my watermelons are ripe or not! I've read that it should be ripe if the tendril and the spoon leaf by the melon are brown and the underside is yellow. I'm getting conflicting messages from mine. The tendril and leaf are completely brown on two and have been for a few days now, but the bottoms are still white as a ghost.

Some people say they should slip from the vine, others say they don't; so that's not much help. As for thumping, I honestly can't hear a difference in all the vids I've watched.

Advice? Do I pick now or wait for the yellow? Thanks in advance.
