Want: Brugmansia seeds
Comments (1)With very few exceptions such as Arborea, brug seeds do not grow true. If you want a specific variety/color you need to use cuttings. I have seeds from an open pollinated pink variety (Emerald Frost) available. They might not produce pink blooms but they almost certainly won't produce a yellow flowered plant....See MoreLooking for brugmansia seeds
Comments (3)I am looking for seeds now because I enjoyed my first experience with brugmansias...which was growing two beautiful plants from seeds. 2008 was my first experience with brugs...and I learned a lot by reading and experience. I learned that planting seeds from a pink plant will give me white plants...because that is what I got. There is just that slim chance of getting color so I would like to keep trying with seeds the rest of this winter. I did get some cuttings...all the little pencil thin green ones were discolored from the 30 degree temp here I knew they wouldn't make it and they didn't. The bigger ones are making nubs and roots. I can only get mailed items in the spring and Oct. I guess....as we had a very early freeze this year. I still won't have any cuttings to trade with this spring but if you have any available then for postage and handling and any seeds I have you might want I'd be interested in hearing from you then. Helen In the meantime...anyone have any seeds to trade?...See MoreWANTED: Brugmansia
Comments (2)If you go to the American Brugmansia & Datura Society (ABADS) website you can purchase seeds from their seed bank. The fee in nominal and basically all you are paying for is the shipping. As these seeds come from hybridizers they ask that you continue to grow the plants for a while and report back as to how the plants are doing. They are a wonderful group of people with tons of information and laughs to share. Here is a link that might be useful: ABADS seed bank...See MoreWANTED: Brugmansia
Comments (15)Tulsa, If you're coming to the OKC swap in May, I'll have several varieties of brugs for trade. Brugs root very, very easily in water. If yours have died, it's probably because they are very green wood cuttings. The bigger, older branches are almost fail proof. You might try rooting the greener cuttings in a warm spot. Brinda, The key to blooms on brugs is fertilizer. You can fertilize them every day if you want. I don't think you can overfertilize a brug. Or try growing cuttings taken above the Y. They should bloom in no time at all....See Morerealcocacola78
