New granite installed but I hate it?
Comments (39)Ah, I can relate. Our condition has many-a-diagnosis: "Post-holiday blues." "Buyer's remorse." "Post-presentation/performance doldrums." Or in my case: "Paint regret." I ALWAYS hate whatever color I put on a wall immediately after finishing the project. And nearly always, I love it a day or two later. There is an actual physiological reason for this: When we get excited about something (good or bad), we go into fight/flight mode, and our silly glands release adrenaline and cortisol stress hormones, which increases blood sugar. It's great in the moment -- keeps us going through stressful events (I LOVE painting late into the night!) -- but then afterwards we crash hard (lactose makes sore muscles and stiff neck, endorphins drop off and we start crying, etc.). These "big reveal" remodeling events can be like the highs, lows and hangover from eating a big bowl of Halloween candy. Physiologically it helps to literally "shake it off": shaking arms and legs moves the lactose out, walking around the block and deep breathing helps. Plus sleep, wine and finishing the backsplash later. ;)...See MoreHELP! Backsplash installed today .. think i hate it

Comments (65)We put in a SS sink, too. I wanted a silgranit this time but my husband preferred the SS and it wasn’t a deal breaker for me. Then I found the ledge sink and I love it with all the accessories. It’s 33” but I would have gone bigger if I had the room because then I could leave more of the accessories in place while still having room to use the sink....See MoreKitchen help...hate the granite countertops
Comments (70)After reading your post I mentally prepared myself for something horrid-looking and wildly inappropriate. Instead, I saw something wonderful. I tend toward warm tones, but with your very dark cabinets the granite you have is fresh and lovely, much nicer than the yellow tone you were expecting, which I frankly think looks fuddy-duddy with your dark cabinets. To my eye it doesn't clash with the flooring, and warmer light bulbs may make it easier for you to accept the change. It is worlds better than your previous laminate. I actually like it better than the choices Beth showed because the larger, more sweeping patterns don't look right for your kitchen. Please give yourself a chance to like it and even love it, although it is so dear of your husband to offer to replace it. I wouldn't replace him!...See MoreRelated Professionals
