Bathroom closet color?

We are re-doing our small bathroom. It is still is the very basic, we have a lot more work to do (like replacing those knobs!). We have the one pallet wall and then the other 3 walls are going to be a very light beige/cream color with white baseboards. We have to build a faux closet to hide the plumbing, its been painted over and over again and not even a paintbrush can fit behind it. So, I'm trying to figure out what color to paint the closet, or any other options. I would have loved if we could get in and paint it black for an industrial look, but that can't happen.

And heres what it previously looked like, to get an idea of the layout:

Is it possible to cover the exterior of the closet with the same sort of wood you used on the pallet wall? Granted, the wood pieces might not be as long, but it would still help to blend the closet into the wall. I don't think the closet is something I'd want to emphasize.

AJ is on the right track I think. If you build it with a hidden door, to the eye it would look like it's just the way the room is shaped.

Thank you all for your comments. The bathroom is a lot of whitish (large hex tile floor/large format tile shower alcove, and a white (long double sink) quartz vanity counter/also top of pony wall). The vanity is oak. All the fixtures/vanity lights are brass (aged). There is a window at the far end. I thought just off white walls might be too much white, although I guess I could change that with wall "add ons". We live in a country setting, the house is a shrine to mother nature : ), so that is where the green comes from.

There are people who choose stained doors with white trim throughout their house. It looks ok, but not a choice I would make. I also wouldn't start mixing stained and white doors in the same rooms, unless you are really good with design and being able to make it look intentional, and not like you ran out of white doors. Why does your husband want stained doors?

Are you building the faux closet just to hide the pipe, or will it have some storage built into it? Can you take another pic that shows the whole length of the pipe with the pallet wall, as we can't see it all in the first one.

It looks like in some areas, you could get a sheet of plastic, like the drop cloths sold in big box stores, and working carefully, slide/push it behind the pipe to mask the pallet wall for either hand painting or carefully spray painting it. You could use a plastic putty knife to help push it behind the pipe.

Then in the areas where it's too tight to slide the plastic behind it, I'd wedge some heavy paper (or even wax paper) up to the pipe on either side, and carefully hand paint the pipe. If you can't get a brush behind it, you could at least use the plastic and paper to shield the wall while painting as much of the pipe as possible. Since it appears so close to the wall, I think doing that would allow you to get enough paint on it so the back side of the pipe couldn't be seen.

Here are a few more photos. We were planning on making the "closet" not more than 6 or 7 inches deep, about 16" wide, and put a couple shelves to hold little things in there. You can see the distance between the wall and pipe, it's probably less than 1/4" from what I can tell, they built the room, you can even see the wallpaper, and then put the pipe in. I'm thinking it needs to be covered, check out that great hole they seem to have punched in to put that 1" pipe through.

I'd make a floor to ceiling boxed area out of pallet wood, clipping it in with magnetic catches to the walls, than add open floating shelves with pallet wood to it's left for open storage. Put towels stored on the shelves in baskets so they won't get snagged on the pallet wood.
