Taj Mahal quote

We are doing bathroom remodel. We're looking for a white granite and came across Taj Mahal quartzite...we really liked the translucent quality and coloring. Asked for estimates from our fabricator for 7 slabs--some not Taj Mahal --that we thought might work. The fabricators gave us an up charge for a particular slab of Taj Mahal over the level 2 granite the person doing our cabinetry had built into her pricing. It was 4k more for that slab, fabricated into double vanity top about 60" long w/2 single-handle faucet holes and 2-14x17 oval sinks plus a second counter top in short L-shape about 2x3 --no cuts--A simple edge--nothing ornate...

does that seem really excessive? I know that Taj Mahal is harder and requires more time to cut and goes through more blades but 4k is a lot steeper increase than we anticipated. And the way pricing is done in this area --Sarasota, Florida-- is different than when I bought granite in DFW, TX area.

We didn't get breakdown between cabinetry and countertops when we got the contract. Looking back guess that was mistake.
