Interior garage door/trim color ideas
Comments (1)Personally, I like the contrast of the white so I would not mute it. Is the dark charcoal color the same on the trimmed panels in the door? If so, I would do the door trim in that. In my opinion, that will make the door "pop" more - but I happen to like that contrast....See Moregarage doors - french doors pictures
Comments (35)On your other thread I mentioned that we used FrenchPorte in Chevy Chase, Maryland for our garage doors. We and many of our neighbors think they really look wonderful. We have a 1960 ranch with a walkout basement, but from the road, it looks like a one story ranch. The french doors create the illusion of a longer house and let light into the garage, but do not allow people to see into the garage. They are more expensive than most other garage doors, but, for us, it was worth the price. The fact that there are no other french doors on the front of your house does not bother me. I don't think too many people have banks of french doors across the front of their houses, but they often have two or three sets as we do in the back of our house. I think it would look fine to use the french doors on your garage. There are also variations on the number of lights/style from which to choose, so you can pick something that complements your home. Please post pictures of whatever you decide to do. I always enjoy the 'after' photos!...See Moreneed to order garage door would love your assistance
Comments (5)If you have a window in the forward facing gable above the garage that provides natural light inside the garage, then solid garage door (s) -- with door(s) and frame painted the same color as the siding (to make it visually disappear in order to leave the front entry the focal point of your new home) works; however if you have no natural light entering your garage, consider a garage door with a row of windows at the top. Arbor optional -- live without it a while; could be added later. A wood door to match the underside of the front entry gable and any front entry posts would work equally well -- and you could try for the same look on any arbor. I actually prefer natural wood to painted, especially where stone is being added. Really nice large yard. Look forward to your posts as you begin to landscape....See MoreAnother garage door color choice - your thoughts?
Comments (17)Actually the garage is attached to the house, via the original entry porch, which opened on the garage side. I added an entry door to the front when I added the garage. It's the original 6 feet wide and has a pantry and coat closet behind it, and an added half bath beyond that, which goes to the back of the house. It has a full dormer across the back, making the bedrooms on the '3rd floor' in the back, as it has a daylight basement as part of the back yard slopes down toward the river. The second pic is out the master bedroom window after a nice rain. I love this house and hope it's my first and last....See Morejacob dev
