Your pectinata looks very nice! It also looks very much like the Ae pectinate small form that I have - however, mine is not coloured up as nice as yours. Mine got a bit of slow release food some time ago. Are you growing yours hard? This is what my 'normal' pectinata looked like a year before it flowered. The colour it got then was coming and going but always more as solid patches and a realy bright cerise pink. Of course, when it flowered it went totally bezurk. Hummersteve: It is go great that you have hummers. I live in Zone5B IL and I haven't seen one yet. Big bummer, my hummingbird fever started early last fall when I seen one for the very first time. Went out and bought a couple of feeders and soon had about 20-30 hanging around for about a month. Why none this Spring? They follow this route because I seen tons of them last fall. I have had my feeders out for about 4 weeks. Still no real plants though. I do have "Lady in Red" and "Coral Nymph" (4 of each but they are still pretty small. I also have a hanger that is red filled with their favorite nest making material which I purchased at WBU.

Sip, down and out of the rain. Sip, down and out of the rain ;0) I had noticed them doing that on very cold winter mornings, not so much during rainy spring afternoons.

Nothing about humidity, other than "may affect drying times". Temperature is described as 77 degrees being optimal. I doubt if I have EVER varnished anything at close to that temperature. Seems like every fall I have some project going. And every fall I run out of good weather, without knowing for sure what % of humidity is too high, and what temperature is too low. But I'm not sure how far to push it. I now have an insulated garage door. But I don't know what kind of difference that would really make.
