If the files on the Maxtor were put there by a Backup utility then they can only be Restored by the same utility. As Mikie said, this is doable but involved. Import / Export is normally the easiest, 'assuming' your email client supports that, otherwise you should be able to cut and paste. With the Maxtor on the XP machine it becomes the Destination Drive for the Export or Cut files. Once that is done, hook it to the Vista machine and it becomes the Source Drive for the info. All of this assumes a comfort level using Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer). halb

I just did a test. I have a fairly new comcast account but I don't use their smartzone email. I use Thunderbird and have my comcast, gmail and hotmail accounts in Thunderbird. I also have outlook on my computer but have never used it. The test was this. I exported my Thunderbird address book to a csv (comma seperated values) file. I then imported it into the smartzone using the method I posted above (preferences then click on 'address book' in the preferences column) that worked so I exported them from there and imported them into my gmail account. It worked with no problem at all and I have a fairly large address book.

Open Outlook Express - Click Address Book at the top. At the left top click File - Export - Address Book. This will open in your Documents. At the bottom in the File name - start typing - Outlook email addresses.WAB~ You computer will finish it in the line below. Left click that line and it will jump in were you were typing. CLICK - SAVE --------------------------------------------------------- If you have Microsoft Works it's easy to put your address book into your Documents. Start - All Programs - Microsoft Works - Windows Address Book - At the left top - File - Import - Address Book. This will open in your Documents. File name - Outlook email addresses.WAB~ CLICK SAVE --------------------------------------------- I couldn't figure out a way to mass export your email. I think their is a way but it would take forever if you have dial-up
