Does anyone recognize this rug?

It is my favorite and was my Aunts. She had it for years -- at least 30-49, maybe longer. Definitely wool and hand tufted. Even an idea of what to search for would be greatly appreciated. My cousin sent me this pic so I could try to find something similar.

I don't know, mojomom, but I think it is very beautiful. Perhaps if an expert came to do an insurance appraisal, they could tell you.

the colors look much more vibrant on their website, but is it this one? The same one was for sale on Joss and Main, I think. Since you saw it live, maybe you can tell if the colors were similar. Aunt has nice taste!

For something similar (I don't think you'll ever find another), you'd probably be looking at an antique or vintage Persian rug. It might be worth asking an antique rug specialist (or finding a good book or website) for a description of the style and pattern to help in the search.

You might be able to get a new one, but to look that good they are really pricey. The Iran nuclear deal thingy may open up the Persian rug trade again, so maybe that will change in the future.
