I agree with earthie. ( sorry Linda C) I also use a shark steam mop on my hardwood floors (for years)..no damage what so ever. They made this mop to be used on sealed wood floors and other surfaces as well. The steam will remove the hair spray. like earthie said, it will take a few times before it is all removed, especially with a build up. Once you get it off, you can use Bona wood restorer. It is a protecting finish and looks like it was just polly'd. Once you get the hairspray off, I think you will have to give it a quick cleaning after the shop is closed each night... a lot of work! maybe for for quick clean ups, the Bona wood floor cleaner and their micro fiber mop is very good also... Do you have the chair mats? that will help protect the flooring also. let us know what you try and how was the results! Ree

Thanks guys!!!! You have confirmed what I thought of this morning! I asked my husband if he'd be willing to man the mixing and handing off to me while I poured and spread and he could clean out the bucket with a hose on the deck between mixes. I think it will go much better that way! He readily agreed to help me--he has a VERY BAD back and a tooth pulled last week so he could not help me much and he can't do the getting on 'all fours' anymore at all to do the spreading and actually I have 'the touch' of smoothing and feathering because I have learned to drywall all our walls over the past many years of our remodel hobby! However, this stuff is so much stiffer and I may look for that latex additive--thank you for the suggestion, Nick!! I found our drill attachment for digging holes for bulb planting, more of an auger bit--do you think it would work or should we go out and purchase one more like your suggestion, Jerry? I've wanted to get the Mapei, but Lowe's no longer sells it in our neck of the woods, and neither does the 'Orange box' store!! I've got most of a second bag to use up and then I think we will go to a flooring store recommended to us by a Lowe's guy and see if they have any! Having poured more water on the last third of the room, it's looking more hopeful. We have only 3 high spots, and one is the most while the others less of a problem and our great neighbor (a tile guy) came over last night and took a look and suggested that he'd come over after work tomorrow evening and use his concrete grinder to wear down the worst one. I don't want to take advantage of a gracious neighbor, so we will want to pay him! If he will accept payment, I may ask him to make a couple of swipes at the other two spots (dinner plate size). He anticipates it not taking any longer than 20 mins. to do the one, so if he does the other two, it might be 5 mins. each, additional--or a bit more (???). So, you guys who do this sort of thing--what should we have in hand to give him for his work after 'work'??? :o)

Ok. So. Update. I've been seeing my neighbor, who is an accupuncturist and one, who trains many. I have confidence in his woo-woo-ness (I made that up) because I'm woo-woo myself. Has held me in good stead. He's been treating my elbows, which I determined wasn't tendonitis, but yes, damage from banging my Ulnar nerve. Within the 1st visit, my left arm is FINE. He's working on the rest. Tinnitus, a little bursitis, and [sigh] unfortunately, the underlying causes of imbalance, which is me. That said, he's asked me to journal. I thought I kinda did, here, but he said, "NooOOoooo. That's not enough and not about you." Huh? Has he read my novels, er, I mean posts? And THAT said, I started a Word document titled, "What I did today." I've discovered I have done laundry/uniforms. Put vacuums away. Moved extension cords. Gone to the reuse centers. I plan time for my 30 minute naps before work. And work! I go to work! And so on. It might be a tiny thing a day, but so far, it's stuff that's been haunting me and I have the, "There! That's done" feeling when I'm finished. I think that feeling is indicative of an accomplishment, don't you? I'm still feeling a bit lazy, but an hour in 104 heat cutting down ornamental grasses I spent 3 hours spraying 2 days before? And they're gone? HA! Done. I hooked up power strip up inside my MBR vanity drawer for blow dryer and curling iron (I'm trying to be a girl) like I saw folks here do with chargers. "I'm proud," she exclaimed, pounding chest like monkey!. Just thought I'd share. This silly document has done wonders for my overwhelmedness. Like water on a rock....

Oh, we legit have spiders in the crevices in our old wood floors. (They also really like the cutouts for the pulleys of our old windows.) I don't really care--we like spiders generally since they eat any mosquitoes that wander in, and the black widows, which are the only ones that spook me, don't like to come inside--but if you live somewhere where spiders are common, that does seem like something that could happen. So he's not exactly wrong. That said, if you do not want baseboard, you wouldn't just leave an open gap between the wall and the floor--you'd fill it with caulk, which would solve for that in a different way. We have this in our bathroom where the baseboard was cut out around the feet of the vanity to allow the vanity to sit flush against the wall. Another thing to weigh here, since it looks (?) like there might be an outlet in the center section of the closet in the photo--if that's what that is, are you planning to plug things in that will sit on top of the dresser? You might appreciate not having it flush at the back to run cords if so.
