Comments (4)First of all, I would consider using bathroom paint for the mold problem. A few years ago, I made a huge mistake by allowing the paint guy to put anti-mold stuff in the paint I had chosen for my bathroom. Turns out it is for outdoor use only. It had a heinous smell, and I had to paint over it several times just to mask it. I think it was about 5 years before the smell died down. So, don't let anyone talk you into that. Use real kitchen and bath paint! Next, I don't see any reason to paint over the green tiles. I'm not a huge green fan, but if they are ceramic tiles in good shape, then painting over them may not be an improvement. It seems to me that a sandy color or medium ivory color paint on the walls may do well....See MorePlease help me decorate my bathroom! (Thank you!)
Comments (27)OH! THANK YOU! I am so loving ALL your ideas and suggestions, and believe me, I am seriously considering each and every one of them! OK... so I cut out some sheets of paper the sizes of the pictures we have been considering. The 4 pieces of paper on the long wall represent the four 13.5" Sturbridge ("4 Seasons") prints. I think they fill the wall nicely! The 2 pieces of paper above the toilet represent the two 8" x 10" Warren Kible prints (the cat and the pig). (Boo seems to approve!!!) THEN, I'll change out the toilet seat (probably a plain white one... or maybe black???), and maybe replace the magazine holder with something like this... ... and call it *DONE*!!! So, what do you guys think?! And remember, you can be BRUTALLY honest!!! Really! ;o)...See MoreCan you help me with my master bathroom counters?
Comments (9)There is nothing wrong with a laminate if it is in good condition. Some of us still buy it! My kitchen counters are Wilsonart laminate and my husband's bookcase appears to have a stone top, but it is Formica 360 with a matching edge. Even if you go with a very neutral top, you will be tied to the undertones in that white or off-white countertop when you remodel. You may curse yourself for such a constraint when you go to pick tile someday. BTW, when you do go to remodel the bathroom, it is not just a matter of re-tiling. A shower is a multi-layered thing. You can't remove the tile without ruining the waterproofing underneath (if there is any). You will likely be going back to the studs and redoing the wallboard and then waterproofing when it is time to do the shower. Not to mention the shower floor, which also will need to be waterproofed and sloped appropriately. So take your time and read in this forum over the intervening years and you will learn enough to have an intelligent conversation with your contractor (or family member) about the standard of waterproofing you expect them to achieve when they remodel. If you don't address it in the pre-planning, you may learn too late that they did not waterproof or they did it wrong....See MoreIdaClaire
