Porcelain "Carrara marble" look-alike tile?
Comments (51)Do you have a sample of the Silestone Lagoon to look at with your tile. I think you are right that it might look slightly off but it's hard to know with out seeing it in person. I also think it might be difficult to find a solid white countertop that will play well with both the white in the tile and your white countertops. Maybe you should concierge a light to medium tone gray countertop. It will provide a little contrast and keep your room from looking too white (unless that is the look you want). I think it would look better not to have too much movement in the countertop since the porcelain carrara tile has lots of movement. I posted a picture earlier in this thread showing the Carrara look alike tile my daughter used in her bathroom. She opted for light gray cabinets and initially wanted a white countertop. She shopped remnants for her countertop and was not able to find something that didn't "look slightly off". She ended up using a black quartz that had some lighter speckles in it. She thought it looked better than a solid color. Perhaps you could find a grey with some flecks of dark grey, black or white in it. I've posted many pics of my daughter's bathroom on this forum but here's a few shots for you so you can see how contrasting colors work Since you probably don't want to go with black, maybe something like Silestones Ocean Jasper Or Moonstone Would work for you. If your not limited to Silestone Cambria has some options that might work too. Snowdown White Greystone Good look with your search for the right countertop....See MoreHELP - I Want Old World European Kitchen
Comments (58)I wonder if my name should be Pragmatist or Semanticist rather than Palimpsest. When I am trying to get a feel for what a client wants I literally ask things like "What color cabinets do you like?" "Plain doors or lots of trim?" "Shiny countertops or matte?" All the design shows have pushed the need for a "catch phrase" or a "theme" and I think this actually creates confusion. This is why pictures of what you like are so helpful. I know a woman who was "shopping" for a designer who said "I love French antiques" and nobody is showing me what I am looking for!" So, she was shown more French antiques and got really angry and frustrated. Finally she was told "You know what? Find a picture of what it is you are thinking then!" She didnt like French antiques at all...she liked English Regency and she just thought it was French. So even when there is a real historic style (as opposed to the American coined "Old World" which conjures a general, rather non specific feeling)--there can be confusion....See MoreModuleo Embellish vs Coretec vs ?
Comments (1)I installed Coretec Plus 18x24 tile throughout my house, including eating area next to sliding doors to backyard. I have 2 teens and babysit 2 children under 6. I also have a miniature Schnauzer whose beard drips water. The Antique Marble hides much and looks good even when I know it's time to clean. I have an unfinished basement and crawl space under the main floor. Installers layed down the appropriate underlayment. I also voted out real wood (high maintenance, hard) and tile (hate grout, cold, hard). I looked at many types of vinyl flooring. Ultimately I went with pattern, color, and size that I liked, which turned out to be Coretec Plus....See MoreLooking for real world photos of Adura Max Napa Dry Cork
Comments (36)@Jenny Medinger I hear you! I have agonized. Napa Dry Cork was actually one that I thought for sure I'd be installing. Def buy a box of whatever you are thinking of b/c the sample boards really don't give you enough of an idea. I spent $140 on a box and glad I did. The planks do look great -- it's a beautiful floor. But the light pieces were too grayish/yellowish for my house. I then decided to get a box of Napa Tannin since it looked warmer to me. But the dark planks were a little too dark for my house. So I decided that while I love both in other people's pics, I knew that having planks with that much variation were going to do it for me. I'm 99.95% sure I'm going with Coretec's Hayes Oak which is wider, with very low variation between planks. Again, even though boxes of unused LVP sucks to spend the $ on, it would suck worse to install something that you don't like once you see it in your home....See Morebleach57
