Oil rubbed bronze pendant lights with stainless steel apliances?

We are going to embark on a kitchen re-do in the near future. Here is what our kitchen will look like after the re-do: We will have all stainless steel appliances, white shaker cabinets, brushed nickle cup pulls & knobs, white marble like granite counter top's, {except for the island counter top which will be butcher block}, honey colored oak floor, and dark wood trim on windows & on the bottom moldings near the floor.

My question is can I used 'oil rubbed bronze pendant lights or pendant chandelier over my kitchen island?' I'd like to use 'Edison bulbs' in the simple oil rubbed bronze pendants. I am by nature artistic, went to art school for a while, so my gut 'instincts' are telling me 'yes I can mix the two metals' because the dark oil rubbed bronze will relate with the dark wood trim in the room. I think the eye would associate the two dark colors together. The white cabinets & light floor would be a nice contrast with the oil rubbed bronze.

The odd ball in the room will be the stainless appliances & cabinet hardware, do you all think the silver color of them might 'detract' from the overall look of the kitchen? Will it be 'safer' to go with brushed nickle lighting above the island instead? I have artsy/modern/ rustic/contemporary/ traditional/ eclectic taste decorated throughout the house. I'm all over the place with style but it all works together. --Thanks everyone!

You probably can mix them but why not use ORB hardware on cabinets?

I agree on the stainless. I like the Cruette, although personally I prefer a faucet with a single, deck-mounted control, like in your current setup (but I also like the pull-down). I have had a Delta Leland for ~4 years and have loved every minute of it! Maybe someone else can chime in on how well the Cruette works. WRT to moving the faucet to the side, I would be more concerned about how it functions, than how it looks. With your existing set up do you fill a pot with water by holding it in your left hand and using your right to control the water? Would moving the faucet make that harder/easier/no difference? Will you still be able to fit larger items under it if you move it to the back corner?

Why can't you match the metal to your hood? is that a copper tone? I can't see it very well. I don't like an oil rubbed bronze pendant at all. the other option if not a copper, would be a white like this PB Milk Glass pendant (you could choose your ORB for the metal portion) I really like this one: https://www.potterybarn.com/products/pb-classic-pendant-kit-milk-glass-hood-bulb/?pkey=cpendants&isx=0.0.2528 here's the SS option or what about something like these?

I would not recommend black stainless steel appliances at all (the finished scratches off, they're dark, not consistent across brands etc.) ORB and black are pretty close in terms of looks, and IMO a near match is worse than contrast. If you're really set on ORB just go for it, ignore the fridge.

You're having a hard time because the lighting is chosen last, you need to see things come together first. You have a lot going on in the decor I would keep the lights very simple. I would not put a pendant over the sink, put in a recessed light on its own switch. Over the high-top table I would look at something around 20 inches wide.

Lights Online, I'm so very glad to hear that a 'Pro' such as you thinks it's OK to mix these metals/finishes, it makes me much more confident & sure about doing it! I tend to have a good sense of what works but really appreciate that reassurance from an 'expert' --Thanks!

jck901, I really like 'the look' of the brushed nickle with the white shaker cabinets which is the main reason why I haven't really considered using ORB on the cabinet hardware as well as on the pendant lights. I love the look of the brushed nickle cup pulls/hardware, although the ORB cup pulls/hardware are also very, very nice. Our house has a lot --I really mean A LOT of dark wood trim throughout {Hubby is against painting over wood grain lol, besides it really is beautiful wood & would be a shame to cover it} plus our kitchen is on the dark Northern side of the house & doesn't get much light so I'm trying to 'brighten it up' with the white cabinets & shiny stainless appliances & brushed nickle hardware. But I digress, The main reason I 'really' want the ORB on the pendant lights is because I think the darker color of ORB really flatters the Edison bulbs more so than brushed nickle would, ORB seems more authentic of the time period of an Edison Bulb. The ORB could be a happily quirky & ironic contrast to the contemporary/modern Stainless appliances. --Thanks!
