2015 Raleigh Spring Swap
Comments (29)Hello everybody! I was wondering if you guys still had the plant swap going up there in Raleigh? I am glad it is. I actually attended one about 12 years ago and really enjoyed it!! So much so, that I came back to Charleston, SC and started one myself. I saw somebody mentioned that they kind of adopted a FB page. I searched for it and could not find it. The reason for my post is, it is very easy to start a FB page for a swap. I use one. You can see it here: North Charleston Plant Swap Hopefully maybe some of you folks can come down to our Fall swap. I hope to make it back up there for one of yours someday. Take Care and Happy Growing! Darren...See More2017 Raleigh Spring Swap!!!
Comments (33)I'm in need of help identifying a couple of plants. The first one was purchased a few years ago as a oak hydrangea. Well, that's definitely not what this is. It has never bloomed. My issue now is whether it is a shrub, tree or what. It's pretty. :-). The second picture is an herb. I purchased it last spring but can't remember what it is. Any help would be appreciated....See More2019 Spring Swap - Raleigh
Comments (42)Hopefully i will have time to label what I am bringing but for those of you that want to do some research before tomorrow afternoon, I am bringing a couple of Bird of Paradise divisions, two are spoken for (Karen and Les) and I have one more tiny one that has no roots but the bulbous base is healthy and large so it should root out in a month or so. I have a large nectarine tree that I bought from one of the big box stores that is labeled 'Contender' Peach which is the variety I am looking for - again, this one's a nectarine which are next to impossible to keep happy in my yard. I have one small strawberry that I bought last year in the fall and never got around to planting, it is a named variety. I have a stack of 2-3 gallon sized black plastic pots. One of my baby tree ferns. This one is two joined together at the base. I cannot keep it happy over the winter so it needs a new home. The parent was sold to me as an "Australian Tree Fern" of which there are way too many varieties. I have no idea which one it is but I do know that to keep them pest free you have to water the crown and the trunk EVERY STINKING DAY OF THE YEAR. Otherwise they get overwhelmed with white fuzzy mealy bugs which can kill the tree in one year. This type also has irritating fuzz that it will shed if you touch it too much. When they are happy they grow about a foot a year. I am bringing a 'Clementine de Nules' Mandarin potted citrus. It does well and produces about a dozen fruits each summer (they ripen in the fall). I dug out three babies from one of my variegated agaves, the mama came from Plant Delights and looks like 'Desert Diamond' but I got her years ago before that one came out so I don't know what the name is. I've got a 'Black Mission' fig baby for Mike and a no-name Blackberry for Sabji. I can't wait to see everyone tomorrow!...See MoreSpring 2020 Raleigh Swap, special side trades outside of General Swap
Comments (155)CasaLester, The climbing hydrangea is indeed H. anomala subsp. petiolaris, so definitely not the one that you want. I don't have any red flowered camellias, only white and one pink. The loropetalum I have is Proven Winners Jazz Hands White. I unfortunately have no more space for shrubs or trees or I'd take the hardy grapefruit. I don't need anything in return for the loropetalum. I will hold it for you. (Is you fine, or should I use they or them or another? I'm not so great at pronouns but I try.)...See MoreSabji garden (7b), Raleigh NC
