I've had a problem similar to that this year, but I grow in pots. If it's what I had, it behaves like southern blight, but no little orange balls. It effected the smaller eyes. I had it on three hosta. This is what I would do it it were mine: 1. I'd mix up a batch of hydrogen peroxide 10% with 90 percent water. 2. I would take some more photos 3. Clean out the nasties as best you can and spray the area close to the ground where the nasties are with the solution. 4. Send those pictures to Chris at Hallson's or email him to look at the photos you have posted. Hey all! I have these plants silly me thru out the tag so can’t remember but I think they are Janet Craig! can anyone confirm this? one of them had mites Which I treated but it still isn’t great any opinions (can see in pic one to right has less leaves) ? Also how the h do I get rid of gnat flies they are in all my plants especially my peace lily! I have tried the banana trap didn’t work! do they need to be repotted because they could not be infested? thanks all!

Well, it appears they have dropped off the internet. I checked, and it's name is still registered. The address and name of the owner is private, but is registered in Kentucky and paid through 2024. It may be that it's just "down" right now due to technical difficulties. I'm not familiar with how to use it, but the "wayback machine" has archived some of it's pages. bkay

With a course potting mix like yours many seedling tap roots can not penetrate through the larger growing media particles such as wood residue and will coil up directly below the surface. This will cause the seedling to exhaust all available nutrients and keel over to die a horrible death from starvation and dehydration. Gently remove one of those two wimpy plants laying on it's side with the very small undeveloped Cotyledon leaves and look at the root. It should have penetrated the soil at least 2 inches or more by now and see what you have. They don't seem to exhibit the tell tale constricted stem at the base common with damping off condition but pulling the near dead plant will tell.
