Thanks so much. I don't know if it's Virginia creeper or poison oak or something else

its the five leafed vine not the strawberry that I need the id.

Virginia Creeper.... If you enjoy your Strawberries, this vine should be removed as it will quickly choke them out. Yes, it's a native plant, but it is an absolute bully and if it takes over an area, it takes years to get rid of it.

I don't believe that is Virginia creeper. Perhaps a Potentilla or Duchesnia.

I have an arbor where one side gets more shade, so it is planted with Confederate Jasmine. The other side is planted with Akebia. At a previous house, I had two annual vines...one had a tiny red bloom and the other a BES-looking tiny bloom...given to me by a coworker at the time, so I don't know the names. The 2nd one has had a few name changes, I see, but commonly called "climbing gloxinia" ... Losospermum erubescens... also has been called Asarina or Maurandya... a link here http://www.rainyside.com/plant_gallery/annuals/Lophospermum_erubescens.html

Well, I am totally unfamiliar with California plants, but they look like something in the Gourd family, Cucurbitaceae. Could the previous owner have planted cucumbers or squash there that might have been left to seed? Or is there some kind of wild squash/cucumber/gourd in your area?

It is one of the creeping Potentillas, perhaps P. reptans.
