I’ve had a 30” Shaw at a second home for 10 years and still love it but decided on the 33” Kohler Whitehaven for our new kitchen reno at home - it was such a price difference and looked so similar. I actually like it better! I especially like the slight slant of the bottom to the offset drain. Much easier to rinse scraps into the disposal. It’s still new but it does seems like the Kohler finish is easier to keep clean. We removed the Kohler logo (which was crooked anyway) so it’s just all white and looks great!

My 36" fits the base perfectly, too. But ours is a retrofit. I think you'll find your sink is going to be too small for easy function. I know mine, at least as a double, could be bigger.

There are a few easy DIY places to check if you're so inclined. Turn the disposal off at the breaker first. -Pull the rubber flange out of the bottom of the sink. You should easily be able to see around most of the interior cavity to make sure nothing is down there. And FYI, this is a good thing to do periodically in the future, both to check the cavity and to rinse off crap that might be stuck to the bottom of the rubber flange. -The hose from your DW into your disposal should have a wire clampy thing over the rubber hose over the inlet part. Pull that off and see if there is any blockage at that point. Wait, have you even run your DW yet? If not, never mind. -Check the P trap; perhaps something is stuck down there? You know, nuts, bolts, rolls of PTFE tape... :) Anyway, it's at least something to check while you wait to get a plumbing appt, which probably won't be until after the long weekend, unfortunately!

I think I'm going to go wirh the Insinketator Evolution compact to fit under the deep sink. Buehl- So that Kohler flange is made for disposals? Does it work in place of the one that comes with the Insinkeraror?I checked out the Insinketator with the septic assist but it is too big for under our sink. I think I'm going to go with the Insinkerator evolution compact and I'll just have to be good about putting the treatments/bacteria down regularly. We just had our septic pumped for the first time since we moved in two years ago. We had a really hard time locating it, it wasn't where we were told it was. It also turned out to be buried 4ft down. Our neighbor who we bought it from said her parents never had it pumped . Doesn't seem possible but it does seem to work well. Jake- yeah the grease is hard. I always scrape any grease off before I wash but there is always some left, and I then there is the liquids, I like to cook pulled pork in my slow cooker in a carbonated soda and I've always poured the liquid down the drain, using a strainer for bits of meat but realized lately that the liquids would have a lot of fat in it. We do not have a finger system apparently. There are tiles underground that take the water to the city (or something like that) since our house is old we are grandfathered into being able to do this, if we ever have to redo the septic we'll have to add those though so we're motivated to keep it working!
