Blue Hydrangeas turning green

Hydrangeamateur

Hi everyone,

I bought a potted hydrangea (I assume it was a Nikko blue?) from a gardening store about 3-4 weeks ago. I planted it in the ground after a few days. Since that time, the nice light blue of the blooms has turned to more of a white/lime green color:

Possible problems:

1. I've since tested the soil and found it to be very alkaline, not great for keeping the blue color, but I'm surprised that the blooms changed color so fast?

2. Could this be an issue with over or under watering? The leaves look healthy so I'm hard pressed to chalk this up to a watering issue.

3. Could there have been too much sun and the flowers are now pre-maturely drying out?

Any insight and advice about how to care for the plant going forward greatly appreciated!
