Overpaid for Programable Thermostat?

Our house is 14 years old. We have two Carrier units (East and West in a 2900 sq ft single story home north of Chicago). The West unit wasn't responding correctly to its theromstat.

We have an annual contract with an HVAC company, so there was no labor charge, and they came out promptly Saturday morning. However, I'm feeling 'upsold'. $175 for the replacement thermostat? The tech just went out to his truck and came back with this thing. No choices offered.

The unit says Emerson. The instruction sheet says White/Rogers Blue Single 1/1 Stage -- with Automatic Heat/Cool Changeover Option (which we don't want). Model 1F80-0471.

I just want a thermostat. I could even do with a non-programable. I just want our (West) bedroom cooler at night than during the day. We are retired. At home. Capable of changing the settings.

I know I won't accept this pricey model when the East thermostat fails, but what are my options?
