110 Heat Index Today

Last evening I noticed that the west end of our house was not cooling. I couldn't get the thermostat to reset. The program wasn't working. The "Hold" wouldn't over-ride the program. Eventually, the signal must have gotten through, because we were cooled last night. Before we went to bed, DH left a message with our HVAC people.

First thing this morning they called, and we now have a new thermostat for the west system. It was $175; no charge for labor because we have a contract with the company. (I'm sure they aren't losing money though!) We'll go with the existing east system thermostat until it fails. These are only 14 years old.

I wonder if all present day thermostats have 'circuit boards' that fail? This is the first thermostat I've ever had to replace in at least 60 years.
