Barter in Western MA
Comments (0)Looking for someone in the Pioneer Valley area who can help tame (weed) my feral garden in exchange for plant divisions. Mostly common, full sun, well established perennials. I am happy to part with 1/4 of anything I have--there are at least 25 different plants. Most of you folks probably already have gardens but maybe you know someone with spare time who would like a free garden. Thanks!...See Morebartering
Comments (3)Yes I did! Found them at a car wash for 12.00 each. Have them set up and running four piped together. They filled with the last rain and working well....See MoreBarter
Comments (6)We own a business, too, and a customer of ours who is a veterinarian was nice and did this with us. We had vet bills for our little dog Spanky (who has since been put to sleep unfortunately) that totaled around $900, and she said that she would just apply her invoices for computer repair against what we owe. That really helped, because I didn't have the extra $$$ then....See MoreBartering and fabric in Chicago
Comments (9)Fishman's doesn't carry full bolts in the showroom any longer. Sample squares are what you'll have for touching/feeling. But if you are ok with sample sizes, they have the quantities in back. I've always liked them mostly for clothing fabrics - 35 yrs of shopping there. My dining room chairs are now covered with one of their fabrics. Vogue Fabrics on Roosevelt Rd has an ok size selection...not what they used to carry. I did buy linen there recently, but they didn't have much of a color selection. The Textile Outlet at 2121 W 21st is, by far, the largest. They buy unused quantities from any type of manufacturer that does upholstery work. Talk to the older guys for help - they are the ones who know the stock best. Although they do sort fabric types/styles in each room of the warehouse, you will often find fabrics mixed all over. I never get out of there in under 2 hrs. But I love this place - it's my current Chicago favorite! They have a parking lot next door - it's needed because street parking is never available. I've never bartered here...the prices are good. Fishman's is my next favorite, then Vogue. I don't bother with Joann's or Hancock any more unless I want only cotton or muslin.
